Sacramento Kings 2034-2035 Preseason Presser

Good morning everyone and happy Memorial Day!
I immediately decided to trade the team away and start fresh after the end of last season. I felt that BDJ, Paugh, and Udoka would still be very good players going into the new season but if I wanted to trade them for assets now would be the time to do it.
We sent BDJ to the Clippers, Cliff Paugh to the Spurs, and Udoka to the Jazz. I know each one of them will make a major impact on their new teams and wish them and their new GMs the very best and good health!
That was really it for our offseason. I tried to make a homerun signing in round 1 UFA but struck out, so I changed it up and signed some guys to see what happens in training camp. Nothing eventful happened there. Now I just need to find homes for some decent role players.
There was one player I really liked who was on the Hawks team last year that I feel could be a decent player. He's young, on a cheap contract, and I want to invest in him because of his athleticism. Renato Mosher I think down the road may be a good offensive player making waves and we already have "Welcome to the Mosh Pit" t-shirts.
We look forward to the rebuild process. I'll leave the floor open to questions.

Random Reporter: I know it's preseason, but has Mosher's strong performance increased your opinion of him as a potential centerpiece?

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: In sending Cliff Paugh to San Antonio, you brought back a slightly worse for wear Ronald Jordan. What part do you expect him to play in the future of the Kings?

Do you anticipate your next build being as quick as your previous one or will you be more patient with your collection of first rounders?

After trading away the cornerstones of the Kings that helped to lead Sacramento to a title last year, What do you think it'll take to get down to the top spot of the tank next year ahead? How concerned are you with this teams positive preseason if the aspiration is to be the worst in the league?

We don’t put too much stock in preseason results but when we put a bid in on Mosher-Truck his scoring ability and athleticism definitely made him an interesting prospect. The preseason results is a small confirmation that he can be the player we believe he can, but we hope when the results actually matter he can put up comparable numbers.

I’m hoping he can potentially be a solid backup type of player. He still has his athleticism and a balanced skill set. Nothing pops out as being elite so hopefully he can be a 2/3 type backup.

I miss it a lot. We had some great rivalries and a lot of great GMs, players, and champions come out of that division. It’s also been a lot of fun being in these new divisions too. Johnson division reminds me of the old Pacific in having multiple great teams each season that can win it all. This year the Spurs, Lakers, Wizards, and Nuggets can make a splash. Although the GM personalities are different, the competition is just as strong any given season.

I’m not too sure because it can go either way. I was pretty set on building around Yandell until the offseason when I drafted RoJo, Kirkendall in the contraction, and sign Udoka. A lot of teams were selling talent and we decided to take a swing right there after going 5-17. Everything just lined up to where I could make it work.
In two seasons who knows if I get another lucky UFA signing and can potentially make moves going all in. Right now I’m definitely thinking of building around the draft.

I think some of these teams make it near impossible to be worse than them without sabotaging my game plan. I don’t want to hurt my team by making it so bad I have no assets to trade. My plan is to trade good players on affordable non-expiring contracts to good teams in return for picks/points. I’ll hope for the best in the draft lotto and see where we go from there.
Also everyone knows preseason means nothing. Now if sim 1 we end with the same record we may have a good laugh and go all in again.

Championships. I’ve tanked many seasons but only have two championships. If we are talking about being the worst in the league that is challenging, I may have only done that twice as well.
A good rebuild is hard, but only one team can win a championship and it usually revolves around luck in UFA or going back to the trading well for some teams.

Current ability would be Jordan, but long term build I want to invest in Mosher.
