#SLOE: People's Basketball Sim League

The Chicago Bulls--The Bad (Cohesion) Boys of Basketball--are back in town for another season, and we've got some familiar faces returning to the second city to take a shot at that 7th spot.

On paper, last season was an abomination. We were off to a very strong start with Silky at point and Sabonis at C. However, we knew that we were still in the midsts of rebuilding, and thinking long term, we saw the landscape of the league didn't favor us as repeat champs. When an opportunity came up for us to trade for Norris Turney, we took it. He's a tremendous talent, and we think that trade will pay off in the years to come.

Though we thought that we could still perhaps make the playoffs, we were lucky not to. We jumped in the draft lotto and then were able to trade up to the #1 spot to get Cristiano Felicio, a big man with a wide range of talents and an incredibly high ceiling.

With Cris, Turney, and Loredo (as well as Sterner, who had a very nice camp--and Silky who had a terrible camp), we felt like this wasn't the season to go all in on free agency. Instead, we think that one more year of development of our young core, and then we'll be able to add some long term pieces. We still were happy getting former Bulls Alton Hill and Patrick Edmunds back. We also signed Elisha Davis and Chad Wallace to prospective contracts and at least like what we saw out of Elisha during camp.

I don't think this year will be our year again, but I do hope to make the playoffs. However, the larger priority is setting our team up to win another one in the next 5 seasons.

Will Felicio be redshirted this season?

You have so many guards/wings that are young. Have you decided who your cornerstones are between Sterner, Turney, and Loredo?

Most likely.

Turney's the most developed and Loredo is the most versatile with the highest potential. We think Gary can play point, shooting guard, or small forward. We'll see what happens with Sterner.

You masterfully acquired the #1 and #2 picks of the 2032 draft, the year after winning a championship, and the #1 pick the following year. Are you the slimiest of slimy PBSL GM's? Also, now that you pumped Loredo fulla points, can i haz him back plz

I throw out a lot of offers. It's not my fault that some GMs take the weaker ones and many GMs don't recognize the stronger ones. Plenty of GMs could have had Loredo for players that aren't on their teams anymore.

I'd like to see the team grow in cohesion. Even though we saw nice improvements from Loredo and Turney in the offseason, I don't think the team overall is locked in and ready to move forward yet. I want our young guys to start working together better so we can get a better idea of who to add to the group to make a push in the next several seasons.

Is missing the playoffs a bummer if it happens? Would that dramatically change your course?

It depends on who you ask. I was bummed about it last season, but then the lotto balls made it worth it. The team, as it is, is missing some key components this season. If I'm making the playoffs, I want to be doing it with a chance to win, and it's hard to win without a dominant big man. We're hoping that Felicio gets there in a few seasons, and that Gary Loredo and Norris Turney are playing at full potential when that happens. If we make the playoffs this season, I'll be very happy about it, but I don't want to uproot our long term plans to do so, and if we don't make it, it won't shake my faith in the potential of the young players we have.
