Hello everyone! It's about time for the 44th year to start, which is my 6th season on the job. Year 5 was quite a whirlwind, starting with trading for Big Boban and ending with a heartbreaking game 7 loss to the eventual World Champion Raptors. Unfortunately it was the second straight season where we dropped big series leads to end things on quite a sour note. Overall it was an incredibly fun and exciting year, even if we did not quite reach our goals.
Besides Boban, we also traded for Carl Howard, Glen Sabo and James Kirkendall last season and each have key roles in the coming season and beyond. Sabo is back on a brand new deal and we are hoping can be ready to take over as the top option on this team once Boban and Garvin are ready to step aside.
This off-season started with us parting ways with a long-time member of the organization whom we will certainly miss in Colby Lopez. He was one of the few original roster members from when I took over and he's been everything and more than I could have asked for. Hopefully New Orleans treats him right and he can go dominate as a big time 3&D player. We simply couldnt afford to keep everyone.
In return we were able to acquire draft and financial considerations as well as Randy Abney, another big potential big man who impressed us greatly in camp.
As things stand right now, we see no reason why we cannot continue to be a powerful force in the coming season and post-season. We have talent, consistency and cohesion on our side. Admittedly, the division is looking to be even more of a murderer's row with the Bulls and Suns getting better this off-season.
I am aiming to keep us on a winning track but also with an eye on our future. How? Well, that will depend on the opportunities that present themselves.
Now, do you all have any questions?

I want to say your team looks good at something but I can’t put my finger on it. Maybe it’s that multiple players have 100s in INS shooting? Was this build planned on your part or did it just sort of happen?

2 is easier to get than 3 and body shots break people down over time. We definitely like our physical brand of basketball. I wont say it was 100% planned, because we could not have anticipated Sabo and Boban becoming available to us but once we knew we could go that route, we went all-in. That physical inside game is also partly why Garvin is still here but we sent Lopez away to flourish elsewhere.

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: With Boban's age starting to affect his athleticism and the Colby Lopez trade, do you think the team this year is in a better or worse position than they were last year in terms of winning a championship?

Well, I think that's a hard question to answer. If we're talking about comparing positions from now to going into last season? Yes, Lopez has moved on but we also didnt have Sabo, Howard or Kirkendall when last season started. Now, going into the post-season we obviously had a full roster but Sabo and Howard kept taking turns visiting the injury bug. So, health permitted, I feel great about the roster now compared to this time last year.
All that also proves that life changes fast in this game, so what our fortunes look like now likely won't be what they are by Day 60, the trade deadline and beyond.

Chet Youbetcha, Dimmadome News: two questions. Who do you predict will win the Kemp division? And what injuries will a Sabo get this year to have him miss 40 games?

Boban Marjanovic is going to win the Kemp division playing one on five once he transitions to Point Guard. And Sabo has had experimental surgery, putting robotics in weak spots, like Will Smith in I, Robot, so he's guaranteed to never miss a game again (or my money back).

Alex Sayuck - Laser Eye Basketball Magazine
MM - You have been quite tactful in negotiations landing several quality players in a number of trades. You gotta pay to play in PBSL but many of these trades have depleted your point bank to almost 0. With a very large year 2 tax bill looming, do you think this is your last chance to win a title with the current group?

Honestly? It might be. Obviously if we stand pat and just let it all play out, there will be some difficulties ahead, right? Taxes and all that. The great thing about this game is there are always new avenues to take to still reach a desired destination. Nothing is imminent, but I'll just say that I look forward to digging in and seeing what I'm able to do to keep this window open.

Greeple here, live from the airport:
Are you keeping Joffrey in your starting lineup, or seriously swapping Boban to starting at PG? Baratheon is old but still has decent numbers.

That was just me having a bit of fun. Boban will not be our starting PG when the season kicks off. Might have some fun with that a few times this season but nothing permanent. Joffery is still a quality player that leads an offense extremely well. What his exact role will be is still TBD however and I figure out the best 5.

If you decide to move on from your current core at some point, do you view Sabo as a foundational piece to build around or do you think that piece is on another team?

If he stays on the court he can be a monster. But he definitely needs to prove that he can do that before he can get that sort of distinction. What I can tell you is that he's about to get all the opportunity he could ask for to prove that he belongs in that conversation.
