Orlando Magic Presser

I'm such a crappy writer that you guys will benefit from no write up. But here's a run down of my offseason. After a crappy season, the Orlando Magic ended up with the fourth pick in the NBA Draft as well as the eighth, 15th, and 16th which i acquired from other teams. First we picked RJeff who will be the second wing next to Mike Miller for the Orlando Magic. Next, I traded the eighth, 15th, and 16th picks for the sixth pick in the draft which I selected Tyson Chandler with. Chandler looks to be a defensive monster with an unheard of combo of size, strength, and athleticism for a player his size. He is the center of the future for the Orlando Magic. After I drafted Chandler I traded for Eddy Curry, a player that I coveted for a very long time. He will be a very good sixth or seventh man for the Magic in the future with the versatility to play the four position. After the draft, I saw that the Sixers were looking to unload some contracts and send picks with them. I jumped on the opportunity and traded for anthony Peeler and the Sixers 02 and 04 first round picks. That's about it. Questions?

How has training camp impacted your team in the long term? RJeff and Curry got the nasty rookie TC potential change yet still look solid enough to be role players.

Curry actually had all of his potentials stay the same, just a color change prior to TC has impacted the way he looks at first glance. However, he has already improved from the player I drafted RJeff had his potentials hit, but he still looks to be a very good player for the Magic and I believe he can recover.

Could you give us a little insight on your decision to bring respected veterans Anthony Peeler and Stacey Augmon onto an extremely young squad? What are you looking to get out of them this season and beyond?

Peeler was brought on in order to acquire those picks if I'm being quite honest. But in the long run, I feel he can bring some veteran leadership with this young team over the next couple years. Augmon was taken on with Curry and he is a former superstar who can play many positions and show versatility.

What will be Curry's role here with the Magic?

What if any regrets do you have during this rebuild?

What is your plan at the PG position? It looks like you do not have a true passer on your team.

Curry will be the primary backup Center and Power Forward. I feel his quickness and athleticism allows him to play both spots. He will be a great scorer off the bench this season. Hopefully he takes big jumps in TC in the coming years and becomes what I envisioned him to be when I traded for him, a legitimate 15 to 20 PPG scorer.

If any, maybe selling Jason Kidd a little too cheap but I still like the value I got for him. Other than that, I guess the Curry trade. Nothing else really.

I dunno. Peeler and Jones will fill that role for the time being, but that will be addressed in the future.

Do you feel this young group of guys are the core to your team long-term or do you have more holes to fill in the future?

Who will be the go-to guy on this team? A veteran like Peeler or one of the youngsters?

I feel as if these guys can be the core of my team in the future, but we definitely have some needs to fill such as at PG or PF. Chandler will be the defensive anchor in the future, Miller will be a good second scorer on a contender in my opinion, and RJeff, if he recovers from an average first TC, will be a very good scorer as well.

This season I feel as if Miller and Peeler will be the two go-to guys on this team.

Will Maukie, BucksNation.com: Who are your untouchables? Anthony Peeler and Stacey Augmon?

I would say no one is really ever untouchable, however the closest players to untouchable are Tyson and Mike.

Nick Melon; Charlotte Observers: Woth the Celtics dealing away Zo, do you see yourself as the possible favorite to be the next Atlantic Division winner? If not, who are some of your challengers that can challenge you along the way?

Currently I would have the Wizards and Heat tied for first in the division with the 76ers coming up in third. While I do have some veteran pieces, I feel that I'm still a year or so away from competing

Bulls Beat Blogger: After making some significant strides with your roster this offseason can you talk about the expectations for this team this year? Some are saying that you are the front runner to win the Atlantic.

Is Jerry Stackhouse still available? ;)

I'd temper expectations for one more season. Our perimeter is very nice right now, but Tyson is still very raw and needs a couple years to develop. Also, don't have a quality PF to pair up with him currently.
