Thunder Pre Season Pre Conference of Confidence

Hello everyone! Another year, another repressed cut short because I need to go home and Sheetrock my ceiling in preparations for Christmas.

First, we felt very well about our team going into last year. While our team went backwards in terms of a record standpoint in the regular season, we moved on to the second round of the playoffs. I was also very optimistic that we would win that series being up 3-1, but lady fate had other ideas. Last year was a personal best for me, and tied the best we’ve done from a club standpoint.

In the offseason we had CAP FOR DAYS. We let RFA go by because we felt that our real play was UFA. We made some competitive offers and got ultimately the one player we needed, Pete. We also threw money at all the other BIG UFA’s and on day two Ash decided to sign with us. We wanted to bring back Williams and O’Connor. We did not offer them what they wanted so we all moved on.

I believe our team will be a very fun offensive team to watch this year. Pete finally made his move to purple, Ash and Nathanial had a great TC and William Jackson I believe will be a difference maker for us this year. We might need to bring in a defensive minded SF at some point, but having a “GREAT” team in terms of talent and being under the cap by Three million is a nice spot for potentially getting one by trade.

Our starting lineup will probably be Pete,Ash,William,Nate,Hord. I hope to win the division again and hopefully get to the conference finals this year and reach the heights that OKC has never reached before.

Anyways, floor is all yours (Until my wife yells at me to come home and fix the ceiling.)

Within your division, three teams finished ahead of you this preseason. Is this any cause for concern?

As of now no, the computer did my roster and had some players like Pete and Ash coming off the bench which I obviously will not be doing. It raises a few concerns, but hopefully ones that can be fixed.

Any lessons you learned from last year's playoff exit? Did you notice a weakness that was exploited or did you think it was just a case of a 50/50 matchup just not breaking your way?

I think it was a combination of having a losing record against the team in the regular season and the other team just figuring out how to beat us. It went from close matchups to them beating us pretty handily. I give all the props to them for that.

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: Two questions here...is there a team in your division who you think will pose the biggest challenge to winning the Division? And second, is there a player in your division you think is better than Pete Maravich?

Two questions: Have you considered who you're looking at for one final trade with your extra cap space? Have you fixed the ceiling yet?

The Spurs will be dangerous I think as usual and then as well as the Heat. Seeing as three teams in our division having P/P players, its like we can make up one Magic team.

Also, when it comes to players who are better than Pete. I believe Pete is a top three PG and top ten player for sure. He is a unique blend of size and talent, and from that perspective I think he is the best player in the division. Looking at pure numbers, it can be argued that BDJ is the better player. However, Pete just now starting to fully develop, compared to BDJ, who is two years older. So moving forward, with both players having signed a super max in the off season, I believe Pete will have the better career

The one player I would still be wanting to get would be a quality SF who could play defense for me. That is the one position I need the most I think.

Yes and no. I have filled the hole, however I still need to sand and add a few layers of mud before texturing and painting the spot.
