29/30 Magic Hour

Hello, friends. Let’s do this one more time, with feeling.

Image

We had lofty aspirations last season. As the sims went by, I really thought we had a chance to win it all- 61 wins and a division title felt good. Then came a humbling, frustrating first round elimination at the hands of the Zombie Sixers and Ben Simmons at point guard. It was a dark time at the Magic offices.

When the offseason rolled around, we weren’t really prepared to dive back into the game after that crushing playoff defeat. Once some trade PMs went out, things started to turn around. We spent some points for Josh Mitchell, a nice stash for the future. We also wanted to add some beef inside- Tibor Pleiss was sent away to Los Angeles for Judd Williams, James McCormick came in for the mid level exception, and Kieth Robison and Ivica Zubac were brought in via waivers. Besides the interior presence, this depth allows us some flexibility on where we out Boban.

I see the power poll has us right there with the other contenders this season. Between the high expectations and the 9000 sim jobs I’ve taken, another early exit may lead me to quit and go back to playing Football Manager full time. Hopefully the season ends with a sim title, sim confetti, and sim champagne.

I’ll take your questions now.

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: Boban Marjanovic looks like he's at his peak right now. Where would he rank in your top 5 players in the league?

I'd probably put him at the top (because of my personal bias) with BDJ, West, Ironside, and Silva not far behind. Any team would love to have any of these guys as their franchise player.

With this being a contract year for him, what does Josh Jackson need to show this season/postseason to prove he deserves a max offer from you?

Not getting torched by a guy who’s 11 points lowering in quickness would be nice. I’m starting to think he might have some hidden “loser” rating- he’s never really produced like his attributes have indicated. He is pretty efficient though. It’s be nice to see him cross the 18 point per game threshold, but I’m not holding my breath. Barring some interesting sign and trade offer, he’ll probably be back with a hefty salary if he chooses.

1. please don't leave.
2. What is the one place you feel your team needs to improve before the trade deadline, if any?

A backup combo wing on a decent salary would be nice, but ultimately a luxury. I’m ready to roll with this group assembled as is.
