#SLOE: People's Basketball Sim League

Welcome to the call for nominees to the People’s Basketball Sim League Hall of Fame. The rules are simple. Nominate a player you think deserves to be mentioned among the greatest players to play in this league. Championships, all-star appearances, funny picture blogs: all of these things could mean enough to warrant a nomination. There’s only one requirement: the player has to be retired from the PBSL. There is no time restriction on retirement – as soon as a player retires, they are eligible for the HOF.

-Nominees on the ballot with over 75% yes votes get into the HOF
-Nominees on the ballot with over 50% yes votes (but under 75%) are automatically considered for next year's ballot ("free" nomination that doesn't cost any owner a yearly nomination).

NOMINATIONS WILL BE OPEN FOR ONE WEEK, UNTIL 5/8/2019 AT MIDNIGHT. I WILL RELEASE THE POLLS SOON AFTER AND YOU WILL HAVE TWO WEEKS TO VOTE.

Blake Griffin on the surface you wouldn't think of as a Hall of Famer but for a 6 time All Star, Blake packed a powerful punch over his 18 year career. After coming over in a trade with the now defunct, Seattle Supersonics in 2015, this was the power boost needed to push the New Orleans Hornets and Damien Lillard, from a fun playoff team to a serious contender. The Pelicans won the NBA title the following season where Blake and Damian ran the show. He was the perfect front court piece that had the skill of dominating opponents in the paint offensively and helping out in transition on the defense.

Blake averaged 18 ppg and was a career .550 shooter from the field. Also averaged 7 boards a night as well. At high height, he was a top 10 player in this league with multiple All League 2nd team spots. Blake managed to catch on from team to team and make the playoffs 7 times with deep runs in a majority of those seasons. If you think Blake is a HOF'er, do your SLOE civic duty and put in a vote.

I'm going to nominate Ricky Rubio. Although he's only averaged 11.4PPG throughout his career, he's established himself as a great facilitator of the basketball at the point guard position. Averaging an immensely high 9.4 assists per game over a 17-year span, his highest mark came in 2019 when he averaged 12.4 assists per game. The following season, he nearly reached that same mark when he averaged 12.3—just a tick away from his previous season. If you need more evidence of how crafty and selfless he was with the basketball, just take a look at his A/T rating: a blistering 4.85. This means that for every 4.85 assists, he'd average only 1 turnover—for his entire career. He was also renowned as being a great defensive guard, averaging 2.1 assists per game with his highest average being 2.7 in 2019; followed by 2.6 in 2016 and 2014; and 2.5 in 2013, 2014, 2018, and 2020. Lastly, the dude shot .824% from the free throw stripe and seldom got injured. He'll forever be renowned as a great facilitator, defender, and free throw shooter—and an incredibly durable one at that.

He's a 4x All-Star with a Championship under his belt; was featured in the All-Defensive First Team 4x, All-Defensive Team 2x, All-League Third Team 2x, and was a 6x assist leader.

Kyrie was an 8 time all star and a 5 time all league player. He broke into the league as an incredible scorer, pouring in over 20 ppg as a rookie in 2011. He spent 12 years scoring over 20 ppg, falling to 19 ppg in his 13th year in the league. Not only that, but he was efficient with career shooting percentages of 47% from the field, 88% from the line, and 41% from three.

Kyrie might not have been a traditional pass first point guard, but often he was played as a 2 guard and he was definitely an efficient and effective scoring machine. His assist to turnover ratios were pretty good as well and he consistently provided defense and steals in the backcourt.

Perhaps most importantly, Kyrie had a reputation of being a backstabber in free agency. He abandoned the Bobcats to take a max deal from the Pelicans in 2019, robbing the Bobcats of a prime years piece they expected to lead their massive payroll to a title. This decision ensured the Bobcats had a scoring hole they were never quite able to fill and crushed them under the luxury tax for 7 seasons, a stretch they just now pulled out of. On top of this, Nick Malone dealt him to Sacramento as soon as 60 days had passed on the contract, making Kyrie both backstabber and backstabbed. For raw drama in the league, it is hard to think of a player more pivotal than a Kyrie - the Darth/Malone feud continues to burn to this day.

Kyrie is deserving of the Hall both in stats and in Fame (perhaps infamy) - please give him your vote.

78 can collect zero points and should be ashamed of himself. Anyone can nominate Horford next year because 78 has choked this like the real life rockets.
