Division Mix Up

I need to get Wig's input on what's allowed in the sim engine but i have 2 proposals that hopefully could go together. These aren't complicated, they are super simple and to the point. I don't want these suggestions getting slogged down with technicalities.
1. A complete random franchise mix up within the divisions. Sim travel time doesn't matter so let's do a complete random mixup. I can volunteer to run it, we can make a thing out of it like the lotto show. Maybe can do it during the playoffs and then institute one the playoffs end and new season begins. We need new rivalries. There's no cons to this that i see.
2. Go down from 6 divisions to 4 divisions. 2 divisions per conference.
The 4 division winners get 1 and 2 seeds since winning the larger divisions means more. After that it's best records 3-8 seeds even if they all come from one division.
Discuss, let's get this vote up asap!

Is proposal #1 a one time thing or would it happen every X years?

I proposed it as a one time thing, but we could add an option to the voting of doing it decennial as you had suggested. And if you vote for decennial and it doesn't win those votes automatically go toward the one time mix up vote.

I’ll elaborate more later, but if we did a draw based on previous success like Champions league, that could be interesting.

Seems like there are a number of forms this could take that would all be interesting. I'd probably be on board with most of them because it would be interesting to do.
So devil's advocating here, but one of the draws to divisions being the same is that you can do a little planning on what the rest of your division/conference is doing. If the East is stacked, for example, and the West is not, I feel like there will be a FREE MARKET response where some teams in the East will decide to sell and teams in the West might decide to strike while the iron is hot and the conference is garbage.
Shaking things up would make long term planning a little harder, but that might be more exciting all the same.

I'm 100% for a shake up. Random drawing would be fun. 4 divisions would be nice again.

Yes, elaborate on that Andy.
And yeah im almost fine with any way this takes shape. No matter what i think the end result is just to shake things up.

I'm down with this in just about any form. Could be fun.

I like this idea, particularly the first idea! Let's put it up for a vote!

I feel like if we do a random shakeup- my opinion as a GM is we should do it every x years like wig suggested. It brings finality to it and prevents the stagnation from happening.

I like the West how it is. No change is necessary

Put the biggest trash talkers in a division together. It’d be the greatest thing ever.

Better yet, just put the Bucks and Knicks in a division by themselves.

My “best vision” for this would be as follows:
1. Keep the six divisions we have now (with 30 teams this is even distribution in each division).
2. The reshuffle happens every 10 seasons. It is done in the offseason between the Finals and the draft lotto. Teams are randomly assigned to the divisions with a “division reveal” show similar to the draft lotto show.

Hell yeah, let's do this. Give us our own trash talk thread too. It'll be a bloodbath.

For the initial mixup,we could assign everyone a score based on their performance-win percentage, playoff appearances, division, conference, league titles (still TBD if this is based on the GM’s lifetime performance, or team performance in the last 5-10 years). Based on the scores, you’d be assigned to a specific pot- top 5 scores go in pot 1, second 5 in pot 2, etc. From there, each division would draw from these pots. We could also configure the draw to try to avoid repeats- if you’re drawn into a group where you’ve been in a division last time, you’ll get moved to another group.
From there, we could re-draw every five seasons.

At first I was like, 'Do I really talk that much trash, especially SLOE-wise?' and then I was like, 'Wait, I'm cool with this division.'

You were added for mostly reactionary reasons after wins and losses.

Let’s keep the trash talk to a minimum on this thread. This is for solutions.

If we do this i'd prefer it to be random just like TC. That way we cant anticipate who will be in the new divisions.
