Magic 2023-2024 Pre-Season Press Conference

Hello, friends.

I didn't know what to expect last year. I knew I could be competitive even after selling Jeremy Lamb, but 57 wins and a division title later, I was pleasantly surprised. Happiness is fleeting though. I knew the Celtics would be a tough matchup due to there sheer offensive firepower. Six games later, we found ourselves in the offseason wondering what was next. Even with another GMOY* award under my belt, how good was this team really?

I was adrift in simvacation mode until the lottery arrived. I don't remember ever having jumped before, and with the Warriors pick projected at sixth, I was content to pull a Louie and churn my way down for points. But then, fate intervened and we got the third pick. We're pleased to have Boban Marjanovic on board!

Free agency was not without drama. Alton Towers stayed, but sadly Scott Ramos decided to go elsewhere in the Division. We're happy he got paid, good for him. To provide cover at point guard, we signed Charlie Mathews and Brandon Knight (KNIGHT IS ON SALE DAY 60, PEOPLE). We were also pleased to bring in Tobias Harris- he provides a lot of versatility. Plus, he's becoming fast friends with Boban...

What does this season hold? I honestly have no idea. I certainly don't expect to compete for the Division. We are putting Boban on our team's proprietary Player Enhancing Development System. We're expecting big things down the road, if not sooner.

Any questions?

Last season everyone thought your team was lotto-bound and asked what the direction of your team was. With that last run, do you feel competing for the division is the minimum expectation?

To be quite honest, no. Faried and Ramos were high contributors, so losing them hurts. If Trae Young is finally ready to play, we'll have a shot at a lower playoff seed.

GWR: There have been rumors that Boban was created in a government lab. Can you confirm or deny?

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: Will Trae Young and Boban Marjanovic be starting on opening day?

Talk to me about your PED program. You shelled out points for training in a way that has rarely, if ever, been seen before. What is the strategy behind your spending?

That's nothing but internet hearsay. He's worked hard and is clearly benefiting from advances in science and medicine.

If you don't expect to compete for the division, does that make the Hawks winners in a runaway?

Trae is set to start, but if things don't go well, expect to see Charlie.

Boban has worked hard but it could be a redshirt year for him.

Insert locoshrug here. We can only play the games on the schedule. We'll let you know the division winner after game 82.

This was really about having fun- I am the Dr Frankenstein to Boban's monster. You're right- this hasn't really been done before and this is what's kept me engaged in the league. I don't know what's going to happen, but it's going to be fun to find out!

Random Reporter: Trae Young seems to be coming along rather slowly despite being a huge part of your future plans. What are you hoping to see from him this season?

He's probably going to be a sieve defensively. If he can give us 5 assists a game and shoot around 40% from 3, I'll be pleased.
