#SLOE: People's Basketball Sim League

Hello everyone, my name is James "The Doctor" Kavarga and I'm the new General Manager of the reigning and defending Atlantic Division Champions the New York Knicks. I'm here to tell you a little bit about what I envision for this season because this isn't just about me. This is about the Knicks fans, organization, and it's players.

The Knicks played fantastic last season and made it to the Eastern Conference Finals where unfortunately we lost to the Detroit Pistons in five games. However we did hold AD to only four offensive rebounds in the final game so I've got a game plan in motion to keep a repeat from happening when we play them again. However, that said, I'm focusing on making this team even better this season than it was last season which is saying something considering how great of a season this organization had.

Firstly we've already traded for Khris Middleton who will be a big part of this team next season. Next we're going to be working on bringing back a few players and then shoring up our bench depth as well. If what I envision goes according to plan the rest of the league should be very afraid, I kid you not. I specialize in strategies as well with my basketball coaching background so if any other team has a weakness we will exploit them. I'm here to win, period. End of story.

Finally, I wanted to let the Knicks fans know that my goal is to add a championship banner and trophy to this organization's trophy case. This is one of the oldest organizations in basketball and last season we had the best regular season record. This season expect more of the same and then some. I'm looking forward to another great year of New York Knicks basketball.

Not many GMs are afforded the opportunity you got to step into a league-best winning team and take over beginning round 1 of the playoffs. You made it far, so congrats on that as well! What did you learn during that time and will it help you going forward?

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: Hawks GM WigNosy recently revealed the origins of his nickname. How did you end up going by "The Doctor"?

A lot of new GMs want to put their "stamp" on a team and end up blowing up a winning formula. Do you have the urge to make this team your own, or do you plan on just sticking with what works?

I learn a few strategies going by what happened. However I'm not going to say what because it'd be foolish to tell every other GM in the league what I'm doing. Only a fool would do that. What I will say is I found a few weak points in other teams and exploited them. Continue to expect that trend going forward.

Why would I fix something that isn't broken? I'll let the scrub GMs do that while we continue to have great success here in New York. We play in the Big Apple and we've already made on big move already. I've got a monster brewing here with what we've got. If free agency goes half as well as I'm expecting, be afraid, be very afraid. I've got a game plan in motion so Knick fans can expect great things from this organization going forward.

I got it because I’m extremely intelligent. It’s an homage to Dr. Will from Big Brother. Also an homage of Dr. Giggles, Dr. Mario, Dr. Strangelove, the song Dr. Feelgood, and a few more but you get the idea. The Kavarga part is from the Kavorka that Kramer had on Seinfeld which I also have. I’ll leave it at that.

The Knicks were a strong team last season, finishing with the #1 seed in the East. How much pressure do you feel to keep the success going?

Pressure is for the weak. The only pressure this season is to see how far we make it in the playoffs this season.

Can you give some insight into your round one bids and if you have any more free agency bids in mind?

I went in with a purpose in our bids. I wanted Chet Dooley long term in a Knicks uniform and made it happen. The rest of our moves were complimentary players and depth players. We've got Locklear back on the team as well and brought in some new talent. We got shooters, rebounders, stealers, and blockers. Defense wins championships as much as offense does so I went with a combo of both.
