Welcome everybody, to the first annual Diggies Awards ceremony! For the first time in SLOE history, I will be single-handedly giving out awards to all the players, teams, and general managers who have worked so hard to deserve them. These awards are special because not only are they completely biased, but they're completely meaningless and worthless as well. Now let's not waste any time. Let's introduce your host, Tom Hanks!

Image
Tom Hanks: Greetings everybody, and thank you for being able to join us tonight. I am Tom Hanks, and I will be your humle host this fine evening. You may remember me from award-winning films such as Saving Private Ryan and Philadelphia, among numerous other notables. As somebody who has seen it all in the world of show business, one thing that I haven't seen is an awards ceremony of this size and magnitude. Just look at all the beautiful faces in the crowd! (That's right, I'm looking at you Tani!)

For the past few years, I have locked myself in my basement, browsing nothing but SLOE highlights and statistics on my computer. I have truly fallen in love with this league, so it is my privilege to be standing before all of you this evening. Now without further adieu, let's get to the awards, shall we?

BEST INDIVIDUAL OFFENSIVE PERFORMANCE
CANDIDATES: Anthony Davis (Pistons), Kevin Durant (Clippers), Kevin Love (Suns), Bradley Beal (Mavericks), numerous others...

ImageWINNER: And the award goes to... Anthony Davis of the Detroit Pistons!
STATS: http://pbsl.ijbl.net/boxes/box71-4.htm
On 12/14, Anthony Davis responded to the criticism that he couldn't single-handedly carry his team by scoring 72 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, notching 2 assists, snatching 4 steals, and smacking 6 blocks en route to a 146‒88 victory against the Toronto Raptors. Not only did he do this with utmost efficiency (30-37 FG, 12-16 FT), but he managed to do it in only 39 minutes. What a performance from last season's MVP!

BEST INDIVIDUAL DEFENSIVE PERFORMANCE
CANDIDATES: DeAndre Jordan (Bobcats), Hassan Whiteside (Mavericks), Al Horford (Rockets), Enes Kanter (Philadelphia), Otto Porter Jr (Timberwolves), Rudy Gobert (Celtics), Kenneth Faried (Trailblazers), numerous others...

ImageWINNER: And the award goes to... Otto Porter Jr of the Minnesota Timberwolves!
STATS: http://pbsl.ijbl.net/boxes/box167-6.htm
Otto Porter Jr put on quite the show on 3/29, when he would grab 22 rebounds and snatch 4 steals away from the Portland Trailblazers, who would actually go on to win the game, 95‒93. Despite taking the L, Otto Porter Jr put the entire league on notice with his performance. Not only was he a defensive nightmare that evening, but he also scored 21 points and logged 2 assists. Simply amazing!

BEST OVERALL TEAM PERFORMANCE
CANDIDATES: Every team in the league...

ImageWINNER: And the award goes to... the Atlanta Hawks!
STATS: http://pbsl.ijbl.net/boxes/box74-8.htm
Fans in attendance were in for a real treat on 12/27 when they got to see the Atlanta Hawks completely dismantle the struggling Oklahoma City Thunder by a whopping score of 136‒72 — an incredible 64-point point differential! Almost every Hawk feasted upon the Thunder that fateful evening, with only 1 starter (Draymond Green) scoring fewer than 15 points (7). Daniel Randle, the player of the game, scored 27 points (8/12 FG, 3/6 3P), grabbed 4 rebounds, notched 4 assists, snatched 2 steals, and swatted away 1 shot whilst only turning the ball over once in their memorable victory. His plus/minus? An awesome 36.

BEST OVERALL GAME
CANDIDATES: Every game played in the league...

ImageImageWINNER: And the awards go to... the Indiana Pacers and Boston Celtics!
STATS: http://pbsl.ijbl.net/boxes/box147-8.htm
Everybody loves to see a fast-paced, high-scoring game, and that's exactly what fans got to see on 3/9 when the Pacers edged out an overtime victory against the Celtics, 159‒158. After Reggie Jackson missed 2 free throws that could have increased the Pacer lead to 3, the Boston Celtics called timeout with 0:06 remaining on the clock and the score locked at 159‒158. In the final play of the game, Deron Williams inbounded the ball to Jaylen Brown, who just barely missed the baseline jumper. No good! Tobias Harris grabbed the rebound to end the game, 159‒158. An instant classic? I'd say so!

And here to perform tonight's halftime show is Lil B! Give a round of applause for the BasedGod, everybody!

BEST NEW PLAYER
CANDIDATES: Alvin Briseno (Lakers), Jaylen Brown (Celtics), Teddy Gottlieb (Spurs), Joseph Mercado (Grizzlies), Charles Royster (Bucks)...

ImageWINNER: And the award goes to... Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics!
STATS: http://pbsl.ijbl.net/players/player259.htm
Last season was one to remember for the prized rookie, who showed us all why the Boston Celtics will be a forced to be reckoned with in the years to come. Seldom does a rookie come into the league and make an immediate impact, but that's exactly what Jaylen Brown managed to do — and in a big way, too. He turned the TD Gardens into his own personal playground this past season, averaging an impressive 18 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.3 steals per game (34.3 minutes). If he wasn't being an offensive force on one end of the court, you can bet that he was disrupting passing lanes and creating havoc on the defensive end — a testament to the youth and athleticism that he prides his game on. On 12/20, he scored a career-high 35 points against the Chicago Bulls. If that's a taste of what's to come, then we're all in for a treat.

VETERAN OF THE YEAR
CANDIDATES: Josh Smith (Jazz), LeBron James (Pacers), Chris Bosh (Timberwolves), Tyson Chandler (Bobcats), Ron Artest (Mavericks), Dwight Howard (Pelicans)...

ImageWINNER: And the award goes to... LeBron James of the Indiana Pacers!
STATS: http://pbsl.ijbl.net/players/player127.htm
Ever since he stepped foot in this league, LeBron James has been a force to be reckoned with — and in his 17th season in the league, he still very much is. After returning home to Cleveland for one season, LeBron took his talents to one of the basketball capitals of the country, Indiana. In the 56 games that he's played in this season, he's averaged 17.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.2 steals in 36.2 minutes of action. Still just 35 years young, LeBron has proven once again that he has what it takes to be one of the most dominant forces in this league — and he's not finished just yet!

MOST IMPROVED PLAYER
CANDIDATES: Damion McNary (Bucks), Bojan Bogdanovic (Heat), Chet Dooley (Nuggets), all other rookies...

ImageWINNER: And the award goes to... Damion McNary of the Milwaukee Bucks!
STATS: http://pbsl.ijbl.net/players/player75.htm
Once upon a time, Damion McNary was a troubled youth — but now he's the proud recipient of a Diggies Award for Most Improved Player. After closing out the 2018 season with some fairly impressive numbers, Damion decided to turn things up a notch in an effort to improve his talents — and boy did he impress. Last season, the muscular 6'8" power forward saw career highs in every single statistical category as he dominated the paint on both ends of the court. He averaged 23.5 points, 8.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 2 blocks in 33.9 minutes of play. We simply cannot wait to see what he has planned for us next season!

SIXTH MAN OF THE YEAR
CANDIDATES: Alvin Pack (Bucks), Iman Shumpert (Jazz), Phil Milburn (Bobcats), Jeremy Lamb (Trailblazers)...

ImageWINNER: And the award goes to... Phil Milburn of the Charlotte Bobcats!
STATS: http://pbsl.ijbl.net/players/player121.htm
It was a neck-and-neck finish for this award with Iman Shumpert and Phil Milburn fighting for the honors. In the end, Phil Milburn walked away the victor. In his role with the Charlotte Bobcats, Phil Milburn was responsible for three very important things: grabbing rebounds, providing some quality defense in the post, and scoring some buckets off the bench — and he excelled in all three categories. In 82 games (starting only 15), he averaged 14.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 27.1 minutes. His offense was efficient; he shot 51% from the field and 73% from the free throw line. Congratulations on your Diggie Award, Phil Milburn!

GENERAL MANAGER OF THE YEAR
CANDIDATES: All general managers...

ImageWINNER: And the award goes to... WigNosy of the Atlanta Hawks!
STATS: http://pbsl.ijbl.net/coaches/coach102.htm
This season, the award goes to the Commissioner himself, WigNosy of the Atlanta Hawks. For yet another season, Wigs has proven why he remains one of the greatest general managers that this league has ever seen. This season, Wigs and the Atlanta Hawks (65‒17) ran away with the Southeast Division, winning it by an easy 11 games. Although his league-best record is tied with that of Wombataholic of the Detroit Pistons (who are also 65‒17), what set Wigs apart was ultimately his road record (29‒12) and conference record (42‒10). Nevertheless, we would like to congratulate both general managers on the success that their respective teams have experienced this year. Congratulations, guys!

PLAYER OF THE YEAR
CANDIDATES: Kevin Durant (Clippers), Kevin Love (Suns), Buddy Pedraza (Nets), Anthony Davis (Pistons), Bradley Beal (Mavericks), Russell Westbrook (Bulls), Kyrie Irving (Kings), literally everybody else...

ImageWINNER: And the award goes to... Anthony Davis of the Detroit Pistons!
STATS: http://pbsl.ijbl.net/players/player419.htm
Ladies and gentlemen, your inaugural Player of the Year award goes to none other than Anthony Davis of the Detroit Pistons. This season was undoubtedly memorable for the big man, who averaged 41.4 points, 10.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 2 steals, and 4 blocks in 37.1 minutes. He shot 61% from the field, buried 75.6% of his free throws, and even averaged 27.3% from the 3pt line. We are proud to honor such an immaculate athlete here tonight. Congratulations on being our Player of the Year, Anthony Davis!

SNACK OF THE YEAR
CANDIDATES: Pizza, po' boy, oddly peanut butter & jelly, Italian sub/hoagie...

Image WINNER: And the award goes to... Oddly cut peanut butter & jelly sandwiches!
FACTS: https://mobile-cuisine.com/did-you-know ... fun-facts/
Last season, the Utah Jazz went 13‒69. After introducing the league to his oddly cut peanut butter & jelly sandwiches, GM Digiskunk's Jazz ended up finishing 40‒42. Coincidence? Probably. But we still can't help but wonder if these sandwiches served as a "secret weapon" of sorts.

Tom Hanks: And there you have it, ladies and gentlemen! From my family to yours, thank you for joining us and have a wonderful evening.

hah I'd really like to change his and KATs (I think his is Jeff Withey?) picture...it drives me crazy everytime I look at their page.

Also it was no secret I wanted Jaylen to win ROTY, but he pumped to see him actually have a good rookie season. Although it was too bad I was on the wrong side of the best game...Ulis dueled Tobias Harris who both dropped 40 point games...but by far the most impressive stat of this game was that it was either a triple OT game and Tobias Harris played all 63minutes of it (48 min reg +5 OT +5 OT +5 OT = 63) Or that it was a quadruple Overtime game and he only rested 5 mins.

So now I had to look at the PBP...Jimmer hit a buzzer beater to send it into the first OT...Boogie Cousins made another buzzer beater to send it into double OT...Rudy Gobert made a jumper from the top of the key to send it into triple OT as time expires...with score tied Julio De La Rosa missed a jumper at the end of triple OT and Gobert missed the tip in to send it into a 4th OT...Then Pacers win.

That overtime game was amazing. I actually went through every single game played in the season to find the best game played and that was easily the best! Can't believe it came down to the final shot like that.
