Hey boys, still 17, but it'll be 18 soon. Amirite?

Anywhoo, sometimes this game decides that it's gonna screw someone, and when I say 'sometimes' I mean every year, and when I say 'someone' I mean multiple GMs. And last year, fellas, I got screwwwwwwed. A major injury is tough to swallow, but major injuries to your only two legit offensive weapons? Impossible to overcome. Normally I'd be embarrassed to lose in the playoffs to a rudderless team, even a rudderless team as talented as last year's Warriors. We made some games close, and even won 2 (miraculously), but a first-round exit was not what we were bargaining on when we put this team together.

This year, we've focused on controlling our cap situation (as a 4-yr repeater the tax man is getting hungry), and despite being ~$11m over the cap right now, when it comes down to the deadline, we'll be closer to $6-7m over. To accomplish this, we traded away an excellent young player in Andre Drummond, excellent though he be, $24m on a one-way player is not going to get it done when the tax-man cometh. So we traded him to the Bucks for a couple youngsters that we hope will be part of this franchise for a long long time.

We re-signed Jrue. We wanted to give him a supermax contract reflecting the faith in him and the believe in his talent we have. However, Jrue didn't want to play for a team that didn't have any talent around him, so he gave us a little bit of a hometown discount. Word on the street is he called Tyreke to do convince him to do the same, but his buddy had already inked his deal with Brooklyn. We brought in veteran leader and excellent passer, Darren Collison. We know Darren well from our playoff battles against Rajon Rondo, and we're excited to have him here manning the point for the next few years. Jrue will still see some time at the 1, but Darren is our guy.

We then filled out our roster with some quality pieces we think will be the glue to an excellent season. We have both the depth to weather an 82-game season and the talent to gameplan and succeed in the playoffs. We're excited for the year to come, and look forward to going even further than last year's team. You know, ASSUMING WE DONT GET SCREWED AGAIN

Go ahead and ask your questions....

Do you believe that your frontcourt of Beasley and Hunter is strong enough to compete with elite teams with the likes of players like Horford/Bosh, Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan/Josh Smith, or Kevin Love?

Nope - but it doesn't have to. Just has to contain them a bit. Hunter will be among the league leaders in blocks (on which the FG% against is 0) on defense, and Beasley can stretch immobile 4's like Bosh on offense. So no, they're not going to slow Kevin Love, Blake Griffin, or Josh Smith down all that much, but they can keep them honest and stretch the floor for our key players in the back-court.
