Thank you guys again.

Now let's get this presser started. I want to talk briefly about this past season. This past season result was really unexpected. We knew we were a playoff team but expected to make it at least to the second round going into the season. But late in the season we got hot. Going on a 12 game win streak including a sweep of the Grizz. I thought damn maybe we peaked too soon. But Our team gained confidence and eventually won another championship ring lead by players Russell Weakbrook, Josh Smith and Jordan Hill. We were grateful to have leaders like those guys on our team and help us as a team exceed our preseason expectations. Speaking of that title we are now about to unveil our ring design right now......so with that said here is our new Ring design.

Now let's talk about this upcoming season. We brought back our core of Weakbrook, Smith and Schroder and made a few additions in hopes to make a return to the playoffs and hopefully the finals again. Talked to the guys during the off season and they are hungry this season wanting to make another run and they know it's going to be a grind this season. They understand that they will have to work even harder to reach that goal. Teams are getting better and we are the Hunted. Hopefully we can make another deep run and give our fans another season to enjoy. That wont get done without hard work and team 1st mentality. Fun fact...since the realignment the Southwest Division is the only division to win it all. 2-0 in the finals. If the Spurs can't win it all again lets keep it in the Southwest. With that said if there are any questions feel free to ask and we will answer to the best of our ability.

Thanks again for joining us. Oh and the fans attending today's presser will receive a free oil change at Jiffy Lube and Spurs T-shirt.

Clearly your biggest off-season move (no pun intended) was bringing in DeAndre Jordan. How do you envision DeAndre fitting in with long-time Spur Josh Smith?

Also, can I get a free oil change at the Spurs and a Jiffy Lube T-Shirt?

At least this reporter sees the Spurs as the strongest team in the Western Conference. Which teams do you think will provide the biggest challenge in getting to the Finals again?

good question

On paper it may look that way but we still have to play the game. I think we are a strong team but we have to gel. We have a lot of new faces on the squad and we hope they can catch on quickly. As far as biggest Challengers there are teams like the revamped Rockets, Timberwolves, Pelicans are always a threat and they always make a day 60 move to make their team better, The Suns who as long as they have Kevin Love is always a threat and the same with KD in OKC. The Kings are up and coming team too. May not look like it on paper but their are some teams out there that can be a challenge. Some of them are like 1 trade away from making noise in the postseason.

good queston

He was a huge pick up for our squad. Gave up a good bit for him. He's the best defender in the game right now. We envision DJ being a rim protector, rebounder and occasionally score for us. With all of these inside focused players in the league we wanted to bring someone in here to make sure there aren't any easy inside shots. With him and Josh Smith in the front court I think it will drastically improve our team defense and rebounding. I think they will fit in well. We also wanted to bring Jordan Hill back but unfortunately it didn't happen.

As for the Spurs Oil Change and the Jiffy Lube T-shirt, we can make it happen. Just send me a address and I'll have someone in the front office mail it to you and I'll throw in some churros.

How do you feel about the Spurs being the favorite in these West by many GMs? As the defending champs and an upgrade at center with DeAndre Jordan, do you think you’re raising the bar of competition in the West as wel?

Does Josh Smith actually age? Have you been resetting his odometer? Do you think he is a first ballot hall-of-famer?

It's an honor to be call favs out west by my peers but we still have to play 82 games. I tell my players don't drink the Kool-Aid. Last season is last season and this season is a whole different animal cause anything can happen. I tell them to don't expect teams to lay down and to expect each opponents best effort night in and night out. With our DeAndre upgrade we knew Hill was a UFA and started weighing options and when DeAndre became available we knew we had to make. Josh was excited when DJ was added to the roster. As far as raising the bar I think we tried to knowing that we were going to get opponents best so we had to bring in the best defender.

LOL that's a great question.

I talked to him a couple of weeks ago in the weight room and asked him how to you continue to play at a high level year in and year out. How do you stay in basketball shape? He was like it's his diet. He rarely eats meat and watches what he put into his body. He said "you are what you eat" but he's looking forward to eating bad and getting fat after his career is over. To answer your question about Josh being a 1st ballot Hall-of-Famer..........Hell Yeah!!!!!! He has been the face of this organization since being drafted. He has 2 Titles, Defensive Player of the Year, Playoff MVP, All-star and All NBA team member multiple times. His number will be hanging in the rafters in San Antonio as soon as he retire.
