I would like to thank yall for attending my team's press conference. Thank you Penny and Shaq for taking you talents to the Eastern Conference via trade and out of this division. You guys departure is kinda Making life in the Midwest somewhat easier and giving us other teams a chance to win the division. I would like to thank coach for the good job he has done with the team . He is working hard to get this team to be the team they need to be. I am sure he will have the guys here working even harder and eventually it will show on the court. I wish I could give him more pieces but we are strapped for cash. I think we will be ok tho. Well I guess I'll stop talking and hand it over to coach. So now coming to the podium is Gregg Popovch.

Thank you Eazy. First off I would like to thank everyone for coming out to the San Antonio Spurs Preseason Press Conference. With that said lets get down to business. Last season ended in heartbreak because once again our team missed the post season. Injuries to Shareef and Big Dog at the end of the last season hurt us and we eventually miss the playoffs by 1 game. We always feel that with the talent we have we should be participating in the post season every year. As a coach I feel this team has got better but if we don't get into post season that means nothing. We are judge by wins and losses. We have high expectations as a team and organization. Our fans deserve to watch a winning product. They have been loyal since I've been here with there support. We need to return the favor by getting into the playoffs and making noise. The players and I do not want a repeat of last season. We gonna work hard and try to get to where we need to be. We also need to get better on defense. I feel we have the talent to put up points but what's the point if we can't stop teams from scoring. We will get better. Thanks and do we have any questions

Random Reporter: The center position's been a major issue for you guys ever since Dale Davis left. Who currently is slated to start, and who's likely to be the backup?

Reporter14789:After many season of aquiring great talent your team has failed to make any type of leap into the upper echelon teams in the league. There's been unrest in San Antonio by the fans by your lack of movement in terms of trades. Will this be the season you become aggressive? Can you talk about why your philosophy is of building around talent over fit?

Bulls Blog Reporter : What teams do you see as your biggest competition in the midwest this year? Does your team operate on 1 hour intervals?

You have Rayn Allen and Shareef as your main star players. Is this enough to get over that .500 hump and finally challenge for the division?

Yeah the center position has been somewhat an issue since Dale has left but we have some guys that are going to split minutes at the 5 and I think they will get the job done. Dale was a great center for this Spurs team but the business side of things took over. As for who's starting Brad is gonna be our guy but we are strongly considering a center by committee approach.

When you are in the West leaping is the hardest thing to do. When you have players like Kemp and Penny who's now east in your conference the only way to stop those teams is to hope they retire after TC. The fans are ok and I've talked to fans at the HEB all of the time but I know as a coach and a fan of the game if the results don't start coming they will be ready to run me out of this city. We don't trade for the fun of it but if we have to aggressively make major moves for the better of the team we will just have to do it.

Was there ever a reality where you would let Shareef walk to Milwaukee? Was an offer made that let you at least consider it?

Over the history, which team has gotten the better end of the rivalry - Nets or Spurs?

Good Question.

Well every team in our division is good but our focus is on us and competing on the court. We haven't proven anything yet. We need to get ourselves together and not focus on who's gonna give us a challenge but find ways to be consistent and efficient in a good way. We just need to handle our business and get wins.

I hope so. We don't want this team to be average we want to be up there with the best of them and hopefully with the pieces in place we can finally get over the hump contend for the title but we'll see how this year pans out tho.

Shareef wasn't leaving San Antonio. This is where his pro career started and hopefully where he will retire.

Spurs. Even if my team is bad I will say Spurs. We don't like the Nets and the Nets don't like us.......well except for the award shows. Don't know why we get along for that tho. To bad the Nets aren't in the Midwest.

Yes, too bad.

I vote for realignment.
