In Season Free Agency/Waiver procedures

1. WHEN DOES IN SEASON FREE AGENCY START AND END?

In-season Free Agency starts once offseason free agency and Training Camps are complete. It ends at the sim deadline for the final regular season sim. Players may only be signed after the regular season if injuries reduce a squad below 8 healthy players.

Players may not be released after the Trade Deadline unless a squad has to cut a player because a pre-trade deadline trade put their roster over 15 players and they must cut down to 15 or they have 8 or more injured players and signing enough players to get them to the minimum 8 healthy players cannot otherwise be accomplished (I.e., "involuntary cuts only").

You may not sign a player to an in season free agent contract if you have 15 or more players on your roster. Because players are considered to be released when you post a release thread, you do not have to wait for that thread to be processed if you wish to release a player and sign another player. Just post the release first.

2. WAIVER PERIOD

A player is considered to be on waivers until 8 pm (Central) arrives on the day following Training Camp if the cut takes place prior to Training Camp. Otherwise remains on waivers until the first time 8 pm Central arrives once 24 hours have elapsed from the time of the cut. Teams wishing to claim a player on waivers should use the waiver claim process below prior to that 8 pm deadline. Once a player clears waivers (see below) he may be signed on a first-come, first-served basis.

3. WAIVER CLAIM PROCESS

Waiver claims are to be submitted via PM to FlemmingCheeks (send to here: ucp.php?i=pm&mode=compose&u=220). Should a team attempt to claim multiple players by the same deadline (e.g., Post-Training Camp Waiver Claims) the team should indicate the order of priority the players should be processed in. If a team does not specify an order of priority, priority shall be assigned based on:
* First, the earliest PM received
* Second, if multiple names appear in a single PM, the order in which names are listed in the PM

Teams attempting a waiver claim will have their waiver claims prioritized as follows:
* Teams shall be given waiver priority in reverse order of their record at the time of waiver processing (or, the prior season, in case of Post-TC Waiver Claims). In other words, worst teams get first dibs. During the offseason (Post-TC Waiver Claims) the team's record the previous season is used instead.
* In the case of two teams with a tied record, the team who submitted their PM first shall be given priority.
* Players are signed one at a time, not in bunches by team. As soon as a team signs a single player, that team is "moved to the back of the line" - in other words, no team may sign a second player until every team has had a chance to claim their first player. No team may sign a third player until every team has had a chance to claim a second player, and so on (mostly applicable in Post-TC Waver Claims).

4. CLEARING WAIVERS

If no PMs are submitted attempting to claim a player before the Waiver Claim deadline, an inputter will add a post "cleared waivers" to the player's "release" thread (likely to be a separate and distinct post from the "processed" post). Once the "cleared waiver" post is made (NOT right at 8 pm if there is a delay between the waiver processing and the post noting the player cleared waivers), the player may be claimed as a Free Agent by any team in a first-come, first-served process. For Post-TC Waiver Claims, an announcement will be made in an appropriate place (probably the TC thread) that all remaining free agents have cleared waivers.

5. SIGNING FREE AGENTS (I.E., PLAYERS THAT HAVE CLEARED WAIVERS)

This is done on a first-come, first-served basis by creating a thread in the appropriate forum. In the event of timestamps that are identical, the thread with the lower ID is considered to come first.

6. CONTRACTS FOR WAIVER OR IN-SEASON FREE AGENTS

In season free agency signings are always for a one year vet minimum. If you use a node you may note it is possible to offer longer contracts in the game. We do not use this feature. Sorry.

You might also note that in the game some players refuse to sign for a minimum in game and you must negotiate a larger contract with them. We do not use this feature either so you can get them even if you don't have any cap space and you also get them more cheaply than you could in game (we edit them in the player editor to have a minimum contract and be on your team - when we do this it is not recorded on the player's transaction log on his player page). You're welcome.

(Since it is impossible to tell from the HTML what players will and will not want minimum deals this is the easiest way to keep things fair).

7. RE-SIGNING OF TRADED PLAYERS PROHIBITED

If you trade a player away, you may not sign him via in season free agency for the remainder of that season. This applies even if the player is subsequently traded to a third team and released.

Update:

From now until further notice (If someone really wants waivers back and takes control of that league duty) I'm getting rid of the waiver process.

New rules:

Off-season waiver deadline- Now that deadline will be the start of free agency free-for-all. If multiple posts come in at once, the winner will be whoever posted first. Simple.

Other rules:

1 player at a time (So, only claim one per post)

15 minutes between claims

3 claim limit

----

In-season waivers- Free-for-all on cut players begins at 4pm Central the day after the player is cut.
