Every GM has to deal with a certain type of owner. Some owners want to win at all cost while other owners want to make money and then you have some owners who don't care either way. Well, every owner has an opinion on his GM and what direction he's taking the franchise. Let's start.
aburns - Clippers - Approval - GREAT; Trend - no change
The Clippers recently won a championship, but missed the playoffs this past season. Owner Mac Espinoza is very low with greed and winning so he's still flying sky high with a recent championship. That puts aburns in great shape with this franchise.
Ballsohard - 76ers - Approval GOOD; Trend - Down
Balls has won two championships in his time as a 76ers championship. However owner Armando Ortega is HIGH on winning so the rebuild must occur soon or owner/GM relationship could become a bit icy.
BowtotheBill - Warriors - Approval - GREAT; Trend - UP
No surprise the Warriors are extremely happy with the GM after a recent title. However, immediately afterwards, the team is rebuilding. Bow has a long leash, but owner Mijalko Todorovic wants to make money and win championships. A long rebuild could seriously cause some tension in the front office.
Conroy - Celtics; Approval - POOR; Trend - DOWN
Conroy has a long championship history with the Celtics. Owner Richard Rego bought the team after any championship but has seen success with Conroy. However, the Celtics have missed the playoffs the last two seasons and the team is not happy.
DarthVegito - Bobcats: Approval - Average - Trend - NONE
New franchise means new excitement especially with a championship GM taking over. However, owner Harrison Bullard doesn't care about money, but wants to win now. Can DV deliver quickly? If not, things could get sour quickly.
Digiskunk - Jazz; Approval - Average; Trend - NONE
East coast GM D-Skunk took over after long-term GM cprej retired, and he didn't disappoint taking the Jazz to the second round of the playoffs after a 50 win season. However, owner Lynn Rowe wants to win championships and wants to make money so a high salary team falling short of the Finals could cause owner and GM to clash in the future.
Eazy P - Spurs; Approval - GREAT; Trend - NONE
Eazy has had a nice run even before new owner Arnold Jones bought the team in 2014. Though Jones wants to make money and have a winner, he still thinks highly of Eazy who hasn't missed the playoffs since 2007. The leash is long at this point.
false9 - Magic: Approval - POOR; Trend - NONE
This is another case of an owner not caring about making money, but instead wanting a winner. Unfortunately for false9, he's missed the playoffs for three straight seasons after starting his tenure with a 50 win season. Also, he's in the midst of a rebuilding project. This situation could become toxic very soon dealing with an impatient owner.
fearthebrow - Mavs: Approval - POOR; Trend - NONE
This GM started out as a consistent winner making the playoffs his first ten seasons including a Finals appearance. However, he's made the playoffs twice in the last 8 seasons including last year with a 42-40 record. His owner doesn't really care about winning or making money, but this relationship could become worse if improvements aren't made soon.
garbageman - Bulls; Approval - AVERAGE; Trend - NONE
The Bulls owner bought the team in 2002 and is very patient when comes to making money and winning. The current GM seems to have the franchise on track with back to back strong seasons. However, the owner is mixed at this point so the winning has to continue to improve the balance of this relationship.
IamQuailman - Bucks; Approval - POOR; Trend - DOWN
Quail has had success throughout his time as GM, but when owner Stephen Huey bought the team in 2011, the Bucks were in the middle of a rough stretch of three consecutive 60 loss seasons. The Bucks have made the playoffs the last two seasons, but have suffered back-to-back first round losses. This is causing tension with the owner who may be looking for more this season especially now with a huge cap number.
InnerGI - Knicks; Approval - BAD; Trend - THE USUAL
The Knicks have been bad for 5 straight seasons now and when owner Scott Roberts bought the team in 2012, expectations grew very high for winning and making money. The Knicks have done neither during this time and now ownership has had enough. The frustration has gotten public in this media heavy town. A nice young core has been setup, but it's time for wins in the Big Apple.
kucoach7 - Blaxers; Approval - AVERAGE; Trend - NONE
Long-time owner Maxwell Moore has turned 70 this season and is waiting for his first championship since he bought the team in 1982. The current GM missed the playoffs for the first time since 2009 making the conference finals twice in that span so he's earned a bit of a leash. The Blazers are in the midst of roster turnover while trying to build a title squad with Derrick Rose so this season could be a turning point in ownership approval.
LHamilton - Cavs; Approval -GOOD; Trend - NONE;
The Cavs were arguably one of the worst franchises in the league before L-HAM took over. Before he came, numerous chants of "Zolinho, Zolinho, Zolinho!" would occur during the horrible team referring to the iconic GM. However, LHAM has made the playoffs every season since he took over making a demanding GM pleased at this time.
This is half the league. Part 2 will be posted later tonight. Stay tuned.
