1. Jabari Parker
G | GS | MIN | PTS | REB | AST | STL | BLK | TO | +/- | FG% | 3P% | TS% | PER | OEFF | DEFF |
46 | 46 | 33.2 | 14.8 | 5.1 | 2.8 | 0.9 | 0 | 2.1 | -0.9 | 43.7% | 34.8% | 51.6% | 13.4 | 108.1 | 109.4 |
2. Gary Harris- Jabari spent most of his year with the Hornets, and he had an immediate offensive impact. He averaged 14-5-2 as a Hornet, and basically is playing just as well in Seattle. I think most of the NBA scouts pegged Jabari as the most NBA ready in the draft, and I think he has proved he is the best rookie in the league right now.
G | GS | MIN | PTS | REB | AST | STL | BLK | TO | +/- | FG% | 3P% | TS% | PER | OEFF | DEFF |
42 | 0 | 34.9 | 15.1 | 4 | 2.9 | 2.2 | 0.3 | 2.1 | -11.3 | 42.3% | 35.7% | 51.9% | 14.3 | 95.5 | 110.7 |
3. Andrew Wiggins- Right behind Jabari is the surprise performer of the year, Gary Harris. Labelled as the “leftover” of good players in the top 5 of last year’s draft, I think Harris has been a pleasant surprise to the 76er brass. Averaging 15-3-3 is a solid stat line from a rookie. The problem? He doesn’t start. That’s probably because the 76er coach has given up on Gary winning ROY and is gunning for 6MOY award… and you know… tanking.
G | GS | MIN | PTS | REB | AST | STL | BLK | TO | +/- | FG% | 3P% | TS% | PER | OEFF | DEFF |
41 | 41 | 33.4 | 15 | 4.7 | 2.7 | 0.7 | 0.3 | 2.4 | -3.1 | 42.5% | 26.1% | 49.8% | 12.7 | 99.5 | 103.6 |
4. Jordan Clarkson- Andrew Wiggins was probably the best player in the draft, and the Knicks passed on him. The Timberwolves were more than happy to have a potential star wing fall. Wiggins has struggled with efficiency so far, this season, but you can see the potential star. With a statline of 15-3-3, he is in the running of ROY, but with the Timberwolves poor performance the past two months, Wiggins may not even be top 5 by year’s end.
G | GS | MIN | PTS | REB | AST | STL | BLK | TO | +/- | FG% | 3P% | TS% | PER | OEFF | DEFF |
43 | 43 | 34.1 | 16.1 | 3.7 | 3 | 0.9 | 0.1 | 2.5 | -7.7 | 41.7% | 33.5% | 50.4% | 11.8 | 99.7 | 111 |
5. Joel Embiid- I’m starting to sense a theme here. This rookie class is full of scorers on bad teams putting up good numbers inefficiently. Clarkson was brought in by the Magic as the future replacement for Wesley Matthews, and with his great TC, he has the potential to reach that level. With the magic cleaning house, Clarkson could see even more shine on a bad team. Will the voters promote him to #1 or #2 on this list? I think this is our future ROY.
G | GS | MIN | PTS | REB | AST | STL | BLK | TO | +/- | FG% | 3P% | TS% | PER | OEFF | DEFF |
43 | 43 | 36.6 | 10.3 | 6.6 | 2.6 | 0.6 | 0.1 | 2.2 | -1.7 | 45.3% | 28.6% | 50.5% | 8.6 | 104.3% | 105.7% |
6. Nikola Jokic- A BIG MAN!!!! Embiid had a very good offseason, and his play has to make the Lakers very excited about their future center. In only 28 minutes Embiid is putting up 10-6 and 1 block. Those are very nice numbers for what was probably the rawest prospect in the draft. Is Joel Embiid a realistic option for ROY? Probably not, but he’s a player the league will be excited to watch grow.
G | GS | MIN | PTS | REB | AST | STL | BLK | TO | +/- | FG% | 3P% | TS% | PER | OEFF | DEFF |
14 | 14 | 30.6 | 14.3 | 6.5 | 2.7 | 0.6 | 0.5 | 1.6 | 0.3 | 47.1% | 44.4% | 53.8% | 17.2 | 107.2 | 106.3 |
- Brokic saw his first real SLOE action 2 sims ago, and he came out swinging his big broke dong… I mean arm… third arm? Averaging 14-6-2 on some incredibly efficient shooting for a big man, especially from three. Jokic is posting the best PER of this group, and the only player with a positive OEFF and DEFF differential of the group. Long story short, Brokic (Jokic) could probably run away with this award if he didn’t have a pool noodle as an arm.
