Lakers Pre-Season Presser

Good morning everyone and welcome to this year's Los Angeles Laker Pre-Season Presser!!!

Starting off with a couple house keeping items, we will be fielding questions during our "state of the franchise" address which is a little bit different then our opening statements that we then follow with a set of questions.

First point, we want to welcome Joel Embiid to Los Angeles. Joel is a very promising rookie that we will do our best to get in the game for a large number of minutes during the year. Obviously the league awards us for playing him 30 minutes per game in at least 60 games, but there are two better centers on our roster right now, so we may have to get really creative to reach that total. Look for him to share time at the 4 and the 5 which could mean some other guys playing out of position occasionally. With his stamina being this low at the start of his rookie year, we don't know that the 30 minutes is very reasonable without being run off the court or getting into foul trouble.

Second point, we traded our #8 pick in the draft for Thomas Robinson who comes in as an elite rebounder. He will obviously get the start at the 4 but could see some minutes at the 3 as well.

Third point, goodness gracious, Giannis. Huge jumps in TC makes it very apparent that this guy is an elite talent and the next great Laker.

Fourth point, we have discussed multiple trade offers to address a few holes in our starting roster. Don't be surprised to see future picks get moved in an attempt to mold a starting 5 that can grow together with Giannis and Embiid. Obviously our greatest need is PG. If we can make a big enough splash we will, otherwise you could see us take one more year to develop through the draft.

Any questions?

How do you see the battle for the 5 spot playing out with Jonas and Andrew?

GWR: It looks like you join most of the league in looking for a point guard. Have you made any significant progress in acquiring one via trade?

What would say is the percentage chance that Miles and Bynum play out the remainder of their contracts on the Lakers?

Even with Giannis, your team in current form, isn't considered much of a competitor. Surely, he'll be a player in a couple years who can carry a team with little help. Are the moves you're looking to make ones that will build you into a playoff team now, or are you looking for players who will make you a possible favorite once Giannis maxes out his potential?

I actually just overpaid a bit for Jennings but I needed him so bad. Next move is an upgrade at wing.

I think he has every intangible you like for in an imaginary head coach of a sim basketball team. He just has IT. We think he's enthusiasm for the job and making a name for himself will only pair incredibly well with our talented roster.

How do you feel Thomas Robinson fits with the talent currently on your team? Do you see his role expanding beyond "designated rebounder?"

I am excited to see how his role develops. Obviously with the recent addition of Jennings and how hard Giannis hit the gym this offseason, I don't know that we need him to do much more than rebound the missed shots from the backcourt. Hopefully the pace really plays to his strengths. I don't see a downside to him in comparison to what we would have gotten off the bench at #8.

You may claim 3 points for your presser. (Didn't ask 3 questions)
