I don't often have many 6th Man candidates and can't remember if I even put one up for a vote, but this season I feel one player for me has performed strongly off the bench.
Caron Butler
19.0 PER
22mpg
11 ppg
3 rpg
1.7 apg
1.6 spg
44.6% FG
86% FT
37.1% 3P
54.7 TS
Caron was an actual 6th Man on my team, not some guy I placed behind a weaker player and played 30+ mpg. He played behind better options in Danny Granger and Randy Foye and played great in the minutes I was able to give him. He shot a career 3rd highest PPS after taking some steps back due to age, and he really came through when I received injuries to both Randy Foye and Darren Collison when I needed to reshuffle my lineup.
What was even more impressive was his PER. For a player playing limited minutes, my team did not miss a beat with him inserted on the court, both offensively and defensively. My team is full of young guys, so it was nice to have a veteran like Caron come in and help lead my team and bench to our first home playoff series coming soon after a few years of the rebuild.

The computer got this one right. Pau Gasol got to slide back to a 6th man role this year when I picked up the more defensive-minded Kevin Garnett in Free agency and found I needed someone to focus my bench unit around for the first time since his 2008 season in Atlanta (where he also won the 6th man award).
Pau averaged 13.3 ppg, 7.0 rpg, and 2.8 apg while shooting .483 from the field and posting great Offensive/Defensive efficiency splits (109.8 / 98.0). He was just what we needed to give our offensive look a changeup from our wing-heavy starting rotation, and finished third on the Hawks in scoring. When the next best bench scorer on the team is posting just 5.9 ppg (Yi Jianlian) you can see how vital Pau was to our success this season - without him we have no offensive pop off the bench at all.
