I have to give the Lakers organization a big shoutout for a hell of a damn good dominating season by the Pacific yet again. Even after having one of my best seasons yet, a near 30 game win streak and 40-1 (iirc) in 41 games, the Lakers never lost ground and started gaining on me to end the season. It came to the very last day of the regular season, which is insane.
Thankful to have such a fierce competitor that is also one of the most respectful owners in the league. Our healthy rivalry has pushed our respected teams to fulfill great accomplishments, and I know for a fact that we help each other in building our teams. We never get ccomplacent, as we are mindful that one or the other, or someone else, can and will make moves to get better. If you sit still you cant get better.
I never grow tired of winning the division. I think this is my 4th time, and it's just as good, if not better, than when I won my first banner with Karl Malone as the leader. This is also my second time claiming the #1 seed in the West, first time overall for the league. The last time I was #1 I went on to the Finals, so I have high expectations and standards for my team heading into the playoffs. Which leads me to my first opponent.
I can honestly say that playing the Nuggets as my first opponent was not the kind of prize I was hoping for when I drew the #1 seed. After already losing our series 3-1 this season and our playoffs series from two seasons ago fresh in my mind, I know that even a second Round appearance is not a lock. Ryan has a good team that has my team's number and matches up well against me. I like the challenge I have been given in drawing the Nuggets because the West in itself is a gauntlet. I am certain all 8 teams representing realize the West has won the last 4 championships, so there is a lot of pride on the line for us. I really look forward to my first round series, and hope it is a start of a long journey to the Finals.
