I only nominate myself when I think I have made a convincing case for an award. I think this year I have made such a case, and I will verbalize that case here.
The last time I nominated myself, I said that GMOY should be recognized for both the results you post and the methods you took to post those results. I still believe that's true, and I still believe my team this year has qualified by those metrics. But there is a third metric that I think matters as well: team vision.
Let's look at those three categories as they pertain to this season, starting the with newest metric.
Team Vision
For the past 6 seasons, I have been an offensive firepower team. From Rip and Joe to Brand, Shaq, Starbury, and Boozer, I've put dynamic scorers next to Chris Bosh and let them do work, and the results have been noticeable. For the two seasons prior to that one, it was apparent what I was good at and what I wasn't good at.
2010-11: 2nd in offense, 26th in defense
2009-10: 3rd in offense, 21st in defense
More importantly, I faltered in the playoffs. So this offseason, I went in with a clear team vision. I no longer wanted a second banana who could fill up the scoring sheet. I wanted players who fit the concept of team defense.
The Methods
This offseason I decided to put my vision into effect. I looked at Carlos Boozer, who is an amazing player but plays the same position as Bosh, the MVP. And I realized that although he's amazing, a team with Bosh and Boozer can't be an effective defensive team because one would be playing out of position and neither are elite rim protectors. So I sent Boozer to the Cavs for Luol Deng, Rasual Butler, and a future first round pick. This gave me something I have lacked for nearly a decade: an athletic wing defender.
I was at the salary cap before free agency, so I took that future first from Cleveland and sent it along with Ray Felton to the Bucks, freeing up cap space. I used that cap space to bring in Tim Duncan, 35 but still a viable and strong defender. Along with Kyle Lowry's improvements in training camp, I now had four of five players who had strong defensive ratings.
The Results
With one sim left in the season, I have amassed the best regular season record in the league at 59-18. My offense has (somewhat surprisingly) stayed afloat as one of the best, as I am 2nd in offensive efficiency. The team vision has worked very well, as I am 10th in defensive efficiency and my ability on that end has helped my team post a second-best 8.5 point differential. I may go into the playoffs as the #1 overall seed.
I entered the offseason with an idea of how my team should be rebuilt; I used trades and free agency to adequately address that plan; and I executed that plan to the letter, leading to be one of the top teams in the league. I think these three qualities make me the General Manager of the Year.

Im the clear winner of this award this year
Heres a graphic----
Please notice the long red circle, that was the last time Ive made the playoffs with a record above .500 that was 8 SEASONS AGO
for these last 8 sim years Ive been Fryeing awful and I am happily proud to admit that. From the 04-09 seasons I lost a total of 000 games and its not like my teams were devoid of talent things just never panned out year after year after year after year but along the way ive cultivated one of the best PG's in league history and this year have put a good mix of youth and experience around him and have increased my win total by at least 10 (which is higher than JNR's
) And have actually managed to play some pretty good defense which hasnt happened since the 90s!
I believe I have struggled more than anyone else that hasnt quit and this entire time I havent even considered it, not once. And even though this is not a lifetime award i think its important to take this terrible run of form into account because I believe without being that bad for so damn long I wouldnt be as successful as ive been this year
I deserve to win this one
