Dallas Mavericks 2009-2010 Preseason Press Conference

Post by fearthebrow »

Welcome to the annual Dallas Mavericks preseason press conference. This season we look forward to another season of player development. We bring back four rookies in Brooke Lopez, Robin Lopez, Brandon Rush, and Mario Chalmers. We added another couple young chips through the draft in Jrue Holiday and Garrett Temple. And veterans Damien Wilkins and Vince Carter return as veteran mentors and will remain as key cogs on this team.

We understand that this season will be a struggle, but we plan to continue to develop and improve at every position. We're also thrilled to announce Marcus Camby's return to the team as assistant coach. He will work with Brooke and Robin down low. We think Coach Camby will help us a lot.

Finally, we are also excited about rookies Holiday and Temple coming aboard. We still have a lot of work to do, but we are very pleased with the potential of our team. Questions anyone?

Nick Melon; The Advocate: It definitely seems the slow approach seems to be working for you guys in Dallas for at least another season or two before you're ready to contend. Do you plan to have both Brook and Robin in the starting lineup?

Yes, Robin is a natural center, but we're going to start him at power forward to start the season. Brooke will start at center again. We will see how it works out and take it from there.

While Brook should give opponents matchup nightmares, who do you see growing into the "second star" role this season to help him out?

I think we're still trying to find that guy. We'll give everyone a shot to showcase their skills, and hopefully someone steps up. At the same time we're expecting a very balanced team effort this season. There is no pressure for anyone to be the second star this season. We just want everyone to keep improving.

How do you see yourself shaking out in the division? Are you in the cellar?
6 Rings. That's it. That's the tweet.

More than likely. We are very young. Hopefully, a different starting lineup produces wins; our preseason lineup did not do very well.
