I nominate Andrew Bogut, Center for the Los Angeles Lakers.
Andrew Bogut is playing in his contract year of his rookie deal, and boy, has he blossomed. After an incredible jump in TC, Bogut has been protected much of the season by his coaches hoping to help ensure he is healthy for the playoffs. While his minutes have been down, it hasn't affected his efficiency. He has seen improvements in the following areas (Numbers reflect through Sim 10):
- FG% is up from 48.9% to 52.1%
- JS% is up from 35.6% to 41.8%
- TS% is up from 51.6% to 52.9%
- PER is up from 15.3 to 18.3
- OEFF is up from 104.9 to 110.0
- DEFF improved from 103.8 to 98.8
- BLK is up from 2.3 to 3.2
- PTS is up from 12.0 to 13.5
In my mind, you only have one choice for Most Improved Player this season, and that choice is Shawn Marion.
ANDREW BOGUT - HOPE

Al Jefferson on Most Improved Player
Statistical Improvements:
PPG: 13.5 --> 17.7
RPG: 8.4 --> 9.4
AST: 1.3 --> 1.7
TO: 2.0 --> 1.7
BLK: 1.1 --> 1.7
FG%: .486 --> .553
FT%: .714 --> .764
His minutes have increased by less than one minute per game. While other players that will be nominated for this award have improvements due to change of roles (being set as a "Key Player"), Jefferson has never been listed as a key player. The only change in his role is he moved from primarily playing at power forward to primarily playing at center this year. He has been the third option on this team for much of this year, but while Jared Dudley is healthy, Jefferson is seen as the fourth option offensively.
Efficiency Improvements:
TS%: .523 --> .587
PER: 14.8 --> 21.6
EWA: 4.5 --> 12.9
He is the anchor on the blocks for a team that vastly improved from previous season. Last season the Heat finished at 22-60. Up to this point in the season, the Heat are 39-30.
