GM Enrique: Last season, after re-signing Michael Finley, and following that up with signing of James Posey and Calvin Booth, we were able to surprise a lot of teams around the league by winning 50 games and gaining the 4th seed in the Western Conference. We parlayed that into continuing our streak of never losing in the first round of the playoffs against the Los Angeles Lakers, before losing in swift fashion to the eventual champion Denver Nuggets.
Going into the draft, we knew with a high pick we'd be going BPA and the player that fell to us was Anthony Randolph out of LSU. We look to bring him along slowly and hope he continues to show promise as a defending and rebounding 4 man.
Free Agency was a bit more interesting for us. In RFA we did our usual diligence of meeting with 3 or 4 players, before convincing Andre iguodala that we were a good fit for him. However he was matched by the Charlotte Hornets and we wish him the best there in the future. We brought in plenty of new faces, but the two biggest were Shaquille O'Neal and bringing back Calvin Booth. Other names that we're excited to see wear the Blue and Slightly Darker Blue include Jamaal Tinsley, former potential RFA signee Tony Delk, Mickael Pietrus, and one of the more decorated players in the history of the League in Shawn Kemp as a veteran presence.
In camp, we see the continued improvement of Bobby Simmons, Andrew Bynum and Kyle Lowry, all of whom show great promise.
For the season, while we dont expect the same level of success as a 50 win season, we do look to have a fun season and are eyeing a playoff berth once again. Any questions?
