Darth: Welcome ladies and gentlemen to the 2008 Seattle Supersonics Annual Pre-season Presser! Very glad you could all make it out today. You're all in for a treat. I'm going to tell you a story. A rather epic story. So grab your hot cocoa and listen up!

Once upon a time there was a King. A very strong and dominant King. A VERY confident King. But this King wasn't always the powerful ruler he came to be. There were others that ruled this land before him. You see, he was definitely an opportunistic man.

Once there were mighty Warriors that ruled these lands. These Warriors were led by a fearless man named Shawntonius Kempus of the Golden State family. This man was feared and some thought perhaps he wasn't human. Unfortunately he was human and grew old. Then came the conquerors and they rode in on their majestic Mavericks. These Mavericks were the most beautiful horses you've ever seen, almost too pure to look upon. This reign in time was probably the strongest and bravest these lands have ever been held. These were the times that grandfathers tell to the grandchildren. Stories of the Mavericks are still told to this day.

What happened to the Mavericks you ask? Well events were set in motion that would eventually oust the Mavericks from these lands. Some say the world hasn't been as at peace as it was when the Mavericks ruled. But I digress...After the Mavericks were pushed out, men on massive ships sailed in and took the throne. People called the ships "Lakers". These men and their Lakers sat on the throne and thought they would never leave. Most agreed, these men were the manliest of men. When you think of manly men, you think of the men from the Lakers. And talk about the bodies they had...let's just say they were into fitness. But where did they go? Well you wouldn't believe it but they just actually left one night. No one even knew. No one realized it. The Lakers actually ruled after they left in the night. The people had no idea that some random figurehead was sitting upon their throne reaping the benefits from the works of the Laker men. When it was known they were cast aside as well.

So as you can see many very very great men held that throne. But where does this King come in. Well as I said this King is very opportunistic and manipulative. Remember those events set in motion to oust the great men on the Mavericks? This King was the one to set those events in motion. Yes, I know you are shocked. But that's how long ago this King has been plotting. And as soon as all the mightiest of the mighty men were thrown aside he was there waiting in the wind. He snatched up the throne and hasn't looked back. But once this King sat on the throne something strange happened. He changed. He let the power of the crown go to his head. He forgot about his actual duties and only was concerned with people bowing to him. He'd have the entire city form lines and one bu one they would enter the throne room and they had to bow to the King if they wanted their daily rations. Some opposed but were quickly struck down.

He would walk upon his balcony overhanging the city and shout that he was the best King to ever sit on the throne. The peasants indeed were tired of their King, for he never even actually ruled the kingdom. His people were starving and war was coming yet all he did was demand fealty. He would stare at his crown for hours upon hours. If one of his advisers ever had an actual good idea, he would just scream when they started to speak "RIVALRY DECLINED!". The man was delusional. Some said among the shadows that he was going mad. They started to call him the "Mad King". As the days went on he became more and more hidden within his own mind. There had even been an uprising coming and he never even seen it coming. People warned him but he listened not.

The whispers started to turn into shouts as a new threat approached the city. If the rumors were true this new threat was a great one indeed. It was being said that one of the men from long ago, one of the men who rode the Mavericks, had returned. He had returned to claim what was rightfully his. He came back to avenge his ousted Mavericks and take the crown for his own. They were calling this man the ""Supersonic". Where this name hailed from is unknown but just the mention of the Supersonic made the King cringe. He was so confident that the man they called Supersonic would never make it to the city, he ignored all threats. He had truly gone mad. The stories about this man were told as myths and had passed on from the years. But mere myths they were not. This man was one of the strongest and most dangerous men the city had ever seen.

I think you know where this story goes. The Supersonic walked right up to the castle doors knocked them down and walked straight into the throne room. The Mad King was sitting there on his throne, the look on his face was that of utter dismay. He was speechless. He tried to find words but there were none. He finally came up with a few excuses as to why the Supersonic was able to so easily walk past his defenses, but it was too late. The excuses piled up and his time had come. The Supersonic drew his sword and easily defeated the Mad King in one swipe of his sword.

He knew it'd be easy but never imagined he wouldn't break a sweat. And well that's the end of the story. The Supersonic went on to reign for many many years and did it with passion, grace, and unmatched strength.[/i]

Well folks I hope you all enjoyed the story. Wait...you wanted to know about our team? Oh shit, my bad. Well ask me anything you want, I'll answer now!

So if I were in a library, would I find this story under Autobiographies or Fantasy?

Wouldnt this be a biography? Autobiographies are generally written by the person the story is about

Let's be honest. Two straight injuries in playoffs to my team has severely tainted your banners.

GWR: Who would you say is your leader? Is Rashard prepared to take over this locker room?

Lot of mental lapses in here. Cant even quote right.

It's okay because just like the others, Nuggets are fading, Kings still here.

Happens.

Great question! To be honest I can't pick only one. From what I've seen from Rashard already this pre-season I know he's ready to lead this team. But we have other guys who are leaders in their own rights. Anderson is the veteran on this team. We drafted Anderson and he's still here. He will help these guys come together on and off the court. Not to mention Rajon had matured greatly since we drafted him 2 years ago. He is ready to make that leap defensively and we expect him to start being a force on that end. All these guys have their own leadership qualities and this team is meshing great together thus far.

Random Reporter: One overlooked aspect of the Sonics offseason is Omer Asik, who immediately justified the Horford deal by having a great camp. What are you expecting to see from him this season?

We are SUPER excited about Omer. He will be our starting center from the jump and think he will immediately pull down tons of boards and be a defensive force at that 5 spot. Between him, Anderson, and Jermaine...this front court will be deadly.

Sports Guy Bill Simmons here, mad kings, slain mad kings, deadly frontcourts appears to be a lot of violence for a basketball league. Will this aggression spill over into the court? Are you worried about the players losing focus this season?

Thanks for the question Bill! To answer your two parter, yes and no. Yes we hope it spills onto the court. These players want to win. Rashard wants success in the playoffs, getting there isn't good enough. Anderson has mostly been part of one big rebuild since he's been here, he is ready to win now. Rajon is hungry. Richard has been a part of a few failed franchises namely the hornets but he's ready to win as well. So I hope the aggression spills onto the court. This will be a nasty team.

As far as focus goes.....No team has ever been as focused as this one.

Most are concerned with the bright shiny light you brought in with Rashard Lewis. Can you talk about a cog on your team Rondo, and his role on the court for the Sonics?

Back in the Shawn Kemp era, you made your name by building a team specifically to beat him and the Warriors, using 2 elite centers and an elite power forward. Would you say you built your current team as one designed to beat the Kings? Or would you say you just built a team that (you say) is simply better than the Kings?

Also, how do you plan on slowing down McGrady in the playoffs when you face him? Or are you content letting McGrady get his and locking down everyone else?

Well not to say any less about the rest of the team but Rajon is our favorite. We live his heart, his drive, and his skill set. He was trained recently and worked on his perimeter D. His PRD now has an A potential and we are thrilled. He was not included in any trade talks this off-season. He's nearly untouchable. That's how much we love him. We expect him to take a huge leap defensively this year for us and we are looking forward to see him matchup against the likes of McGrady, CP3, and Baron. We expect great things from him. He will be our floor general and if the team needs him to score he has proven he can do that too. Thanks for the question!!

Your focus seems to be set on the Mad King, but are you worried about another "King" sneaking into your camp and murdering you with their smoke baby?

I'm definitely not building to best one particular team. We are building a team by the standards that we think is needed to truly contend. That's all we van do at the end of the day.

Honestly not one point guard or player in this league should be able to properly defend Tracy. Penny could have. But those days are long gone. I'm just hoping that Rajon speed can stay in front of him and limit his driving. Then as a team we'll have to hammer the rest of his team. Good luck getting to the rim against this squad.

The Lakers could definitely sneak into the division conversation. I think they should be there already. That's about it though. Those three teams. The Midwest will be bad again. The defending champ got a bit older and we know most of his team is on the block so we'll see how that develops.I'd he were to decide to make another run then that would make things even more interesting.
