Trade Deadline should be cutoff for declining team options

Currently, we give teams until the end of the regular season to decide whether or not to decline a team option. Just like in-season negotiations, let's cut this off at the trade deadline.

Personally, I still like the end of season option - with the understanding that it's maybe a little more work on you guys, perhaps?
I'd like to hear the arguments on both sides.

I see both sides to it.
On one hand we do need a firm deadline on it and shouldn't give teams forever.
On the other, this would add some (not a ton) of work before the deadline to be input and I'm trying to figure out what dragging it out till end of the season hurts.
I'm pretty open on the issue and am ready to be convinced either way.

I like the end of season. I would like to see a player for more than half a season before I decide to accept that option. It has a big impact on a team's FA strategy so they really shouldn't be forced to decide until the end of reg season. Plus, would suck to accept a team option and the player get injured before end of season and now you wish you could of declined.
What's the drawback to the current end of season rule?

Reminder that suggestions will close on all new ideas at the end of the regular season (beginning of 1st postseason DC lock)
