Good Morning everyone. We’re all here today because we climbed the mountain top. A lot of people didn’t believe in us. We made moves that others thought were the bad end of a trape. We were called dirty and claimed to have earned an asterisk championship. Well I got one word for all you haters out there.
The Boston Celtics are 1990 NPBSL champions and are so happy about it. I was going to be subtle with my championship celebration, however the comments I made above attribute to me feeling myself and the accomplishments we EARNED this season.

For the next part of our presentation. We are going to unveil our championship ring that every person in the organization will receive. Thank you Mr. King for your willingness to go all out for these rings.

Ok. Now that we have all the celebratory things out of the way. I’d like to take some time to actually talk about what happened last season and what we plan for this season.
We went into last year thinking we had a chance at a championship for sure, but seeing some of the other heavy hitters out there we knew our team, as constructed, were probably not in place to make the wins needed. We weren’t gritty enough and relied way too much on Hakeem, o matter how much I tried not to. So we made moves to improve the roster. We loved Craig and what he brought but knew we had to move on from him. Same for Mark Jackson. Jackson is a top tier PG, but we already have one of those with Terry and were offered a golden nugget to improve our roster how we knew would best fit us. So we were able to bring in Otis Thorpe, Reggie Lewis, and Jerome Kersey. They were all key cogs in our run and really made our team a more complex team. We also got the sniper, Larry Bird who was a contributor off the bench.
That was proven when Hakeem was on the shelf for over a month. We didn’t complain about the player being sidelined and how our team can’t compete without him. Instead we kept moving forward and secured our division. I truly believe if anyone was disrespected last year it was Hakeem. He was on an MVP season before and after his injury, he just didn’t play enough to be considered.
We then went on a major tear in the playoffs, where our guys had a serious chip on their shoulder for being underdogs. We had a hell of a run. We beat the #3 seed Bucks 4-1, #1 seed Bulls 4-1, and the #1 overall seed SuperSonics 4-1 on our way to win it all. We were the underdog in every series but we showed up and put the work in.
To address the complaints some have about a player getting a migraine in game 1 of the finals… this is a team sport. You have other players on the court that are also outstanding players and if you rely on one player to win it all, maybe that says something about your coaching ability and teams depth (like cutting a player to get under the tax cap who would have been a great player to have in the finals after that injury
)
Anyways. On to this year. We were very happy with Hot Rod, but when we saw an opportunity to get a guy that we have long admired in Larry Johnson, we took the chance on him. I’m always looking to evolve, and LJ is the next iteration of this. We retained Reggie in RFA and are VERY excited to have him back. He was a game changer in the championship and showed tremendous ability in clutch situations, making KJ look human. Getting him on a four year team friendly deal was HUGE. We then got McHale in UFA and are very happy with it. We know he is in the twilight of his career, but that version of him practicing right now is better than arguably 70% of the bigs in the league and having him on a MLE is a great deal, even after his poor TC. We think we’re going to be good this year, but also know the competition will be tough. I think we have another division win, but let’s see as the season goes on what happens. We’re very much in the same situation we were in last season.
