BigDaddyD walks into the conference room

“Wait, let me redo that”

BigDaddyD struts into the conference room

“Wait, not good enough, I need to do it over again”

BigDaddyD comes bursting through the doors of the conference room, confetti flies in the air, streamers cover the audience!

*oh yea, that was the one*

Welcome in everyone to the Supersonics Press Conference! I know, I know, same old song and dance. We get excited, talk about how this year should be better than last year, and then we end up losing early in the playoffs. But there are plenty of reasons to believe this may be the season we break through. Nothing in life is guaranteed, except for maybe a few do overs, but we are very optimistic about what this season holds for us.

First, let’s get last season out of the way. We felt like we had a great chance to make some noise in the playoffs but a first round exit was all we got. But we still finished with more wins than the previous season and had one of our best offensive seasons ever. We’re truly thankful for all the hard work everyone put in last season and all the players no longer on our team, we wish them all the best. A 55 win season is not easy to achieve. But with that, there’s a reason certain players are no longer here. Clearly that roster wasn’t enough so we had to try and improve where we could.

This offseason has been nothing short of exciting for us. Our first big offseason move was acquiring Sam Bowie, fresh off of a 20ppg/10rpg season. We’ve been longer for a true Center on this team and we think we finally have one. Next, we signed Johnny Dawkins in RFA and we think he’ll be a great player coming off the bench this season. Then we were able to bring back Mark Aguirre and also sign James Worthy during UFA. Those might be the two most important signings of the offseason. That’s two more players averaging about 20ppg. I just said earlier we had one of our best offensive seasons last season, so we’re looking to be even better this season. And with the way preseason went the second time around, there’s no reason we shouldn’t be better.

In addition to our offseason moves, our rising young stars took a big jump forward during training camp this season. KJ looks to build off his league leading assists from last season and solidifying himself as a true elite point guard, while Will Perdue finally looks ready to be able to handle more minutes. We knew both of them would get to this point eventually and that it wouldn’t take them long either, and we think they’re ready. If we really needed it, Perdue could start for us, but he understands having Bowie on this team means he’s still a season or two away from being a true starter. But once his time comes, look out everybody. He will be a force to reckon with.

While we know this is a long season, and we still have to put in the work to get to where we want to be, that doesn’t mean we aren’t going to try and enjoy it every step of the way. The Spurs and Bucks are still top dogs and if we can’t beat them in the regular season, then we’ll know we aren’t ready to make the run in the playoffs.

I will now open it up to any questions you may have. Oh and, as always, please feel free to enjoy some delicious chicky chicky parm parm

First thanks for the chicky chicky parm parm, it's got a little more kick this year. Tastes like you might've added some extra seasoning this year. Speaking of adding more (smooth transition), you've noted that you added even more firepower this offseason.

Do you worry there might be too many mouths to feed and some people might start to build resentment for not getting the ball or being "the guy?" How do you gameplan for so many scorers?

The supersonic way is not to be selfish. I believe our guys have bought into that. With that being said, I also believe this roster is built so that we can get scoring everywhere on the court. So it’s more that we’re less worried about who gets the ball, and more focused on that anybody has the ability to score so we trust them a little more. And with KJ at the helm distributing the ball, we should be able to find plenty of opportunities for everybody to have big games

Nick Melon; Charlotte Observer: Given the new additions you made to the roster, how do you feel like you stack up against the rest of the competition in the West? Do you feel like this team can be a worthy challenge to the Spurs?

It seems you had to resim your preseason presser a few times, what was the cause of the multiple resims?

Also with the way your team is constructed, you are now the favorites in the west to start the season. Is this the year you finally get a ring?

Justin Bieber, girlsgonewild.com: With three purple players on your roster, do you think AB has a chance to beat you in the playoffs?

There's a ton of talent on your team. Your roster is undeniably championship caliber. Who's the leader in the locker room?

So much talk about the talent you have. Lets stay humble. No matter how small, where on the roster do you think you could improve and will you be looking to bolster even more before the trade deadline?

I think we can compete with any team in the league this season. I'd like to think we can hang with the Spurs and Bucks but they've been in their spot for a long time and know how to handle this situation. This is new to me so hopefully I can find a way to put everybody in the best position possible for this team to succeed

There's never an excuse to not win the division. But it's a long season and we just have to take it one game at a time. This is still one of, if not the, toughest divisions in the game so everybody will have their work cut out for them

I just wanted to make sure I got it right and sometimes that takes a couple of tries.

As far as this being the year I get a ring, just like I said to JNR's question, this is a long season. Plenty of things can go wrong for us. We just have to make sure we show up to play every single game.

Whatever any GM has to say about me is not really a concern of mine. I'm just here to try and win games and bring home a trophy

There's a long way to go before I can think about any team in the East beating me in the playoffs. But if that time comes, I know this team will be ready

This team still rolls through Clyde and KJ. KJ is going into year 4 with this team and has gotten better every season. He's here for the long haul. Clyde is an elite playmaker and instantly made our team better when he first joined. Bowie and Worthy are obviously amazing but they are also new and are ready to learn from Clyde and KJ

I think the biggest improvements are going to have to come from game planning. We have all the talent in the world, it comes down to me now. Only improvement as far as player movement would like come by addition by subtraction if we end up finding out someone doesn't fit well with us. We're stacked in our starting lineup and very deep on the bench. I think we put together a complete roster this offseason

Nothing against the Warriors, but I think the Timberwolves, on paper right now, probably are my biggest threat. Not only are they a great team, but last season we really struggled against them and started this season with a loss to them already. If we can't beat them, then that would mean we can't control our own destiny. Also, the Warriors look to be coming around although I'm not sure their lack of depth can hold up for them. And as always, if the Trailblazers decide to turn it on, they will not be easy to keep down
