Welcome to the call for nominees to the People’s Basketball Sim League Hall of Fame. The rules are simple. Nominate a player you think deserves to be mentioned among the greatest players to play in this league. Championships, all-star appearances, funny picture blogs: all of these things could mean enough to warrant a nomination. Each GM is allowed 1 (ONE) nomination. There’s only one requirement: the player has to be retired from the PBSL. There is no time restriction on retirement – as soon as a player retires, they are eligible for the HOF.

So what’s to stop you from just sending Slava Medvedenko to the Hall of Fame because you like his name? Well, first of all, he’s not retired yet, so you’re clearly not paying attention. But what else is going to stop you? I am.

I will review the nominations and put out a ballot of those we think qualify to be elected to the Hall. And then you vote on those players to see if they get enshrined.

-Nominees on the ballot with over 75% yes votes get into the HOF
-Nominees on the ballot with over 50% yes votes (but under 75%) are automatically considered for next year's ballot ("free" nomination that doesn't cost any owner a yearly nomination).

Nominations open now and will stay open until the end of the regular season. The ballot will be released after the first round of the playoffs. Reply to this post with your nomination.

Below are the most recent retirees who are available for nomination.
6/16/2003 Spurs C Ervin Johnson retires
6/16/2003 Jazz PG Greg Anthony retires
6/16/2003 Wizards SG Michael Jordan retires
6/16/2003 Lakers PG Mookie Blaylock retires
For a refresher, here are the players who retired the year before.
6/17/2002 Magic PG Randy Brown retires
6/17/2002 Mavericks PG John Stockton retires
6/17/2002 Grizzlies PG Pooh Richardson retires
6/17/2002 Bulls PF Glen Rice retires
6/17/2002 Rockets SF Hersey Hawkins retires
6/17/2002 76ers C Patrick Ewing retires
6/17/2002 Rockets PG Sherman Douglas retires
6/17/2002 Mavericks C Benoit Benjamin retires
Ewing was nominated last year and did not get in, nor did he receive enough votes to have an automatic nomination.

There were no free agents that warranted nomination, in my opinion. If you want to troll through last year's FA, make sure they retired, and think they deserve to be in the Hall, be my guest.

If someone else wants to do Ewing go ahead, clearly I wasnt persuasive enough last year to honor him

Let’s get this out of the way first: SLOE Michael Jordan isn’t real life Michael Jordan. He didn’t win a single ring. He made it to two conference finals, and only one where he was a featured star. He started his SLOE career at 28, and we know that in this game that means he only had 3 years to make a real impact before declining steadily into nothing.

Rather than use that as evidence against his candidacy, I think we need to consider that something in his favor. He started SLOE in his prime with only a few years to prove what he could do.

And he Fryeing proved it.

For five years, he was one of the best players in the league. He won MVP once. All league First Team PBSL 4 times. Six All-Star Selections. Aren’t those credentials enough for players who were drafted in the creation draft? Magic only had 3 All-Star appearances, and never won an MVP. Michael was the undisputed best SG in PBSL for 5 years. I think that’s enough to get in, especially when you consider he was still averaging 7-9 ppg off the bench until he retired.

Look at it this way: you know how parabolas work? Here, I’ll show you one.

There’s Michael at the top. He was dropped into a shitty situation, barely having his peak years to show what he could do. And he still won an MVP, dropped a nearly 40 PER, and had five years of dominance in Utah. The ring argument may hurt him, but I think he did enough when you consider how close he was to declining when the league started.

Michael Jordan for PBSL Hall of Fame.
