This award will go to whichever team/player you thinking had the most surprising/shocking performance this season. It could be overall season performance or a single game performance

Anybody who submits a nomination can claim 1 point (excluding self-nominations).

The max points allowed to receive for submitting a season 9 award is 1 point, even if you submit nominations in other categories

Winning nomination gets an additional point awarded for the win.

Voting on nominations gets you an additional 3 points.

So nominating, voting, and having a winning nomination can get you a max of 5 points

Nominations are due by Thursday April 30th 2026 at 4pm central.

For me, any time we see a new NPBSL record, I have to consider it "shocking." And we did in fact see a new NPBSL record set this year. Archives/NPBSL/1988/boxes/box61-5.htm

Look at that box score. The record is sitting right there on the top line. Patrick Ewing recorded a triple-double with 29 points, 12 boards, and 14 blocks. Let me say that again... FOURTEEN BLOCKS! (He followed it up the next night with 10 blocks.) We've never seen that before in the league. Patrick wasn't doing this against scrubs, either - he blocked all-star Dale Ellis FIVE TIMES! He got all-star Clark Kellogg and (not all-star) Herb Williams FOUR TIMES EACH and added one against Charles Oakley for good measure.

On average, the Nets get blocked 7.3 times per game as a team. Ewing doubled that BY HIMSELF.

So, yeah, that shocked me.

The most shocking performance to me was probably the hawks taking a complete nose dive this season. To go from 59 wins and only 2 games out of the 1 seed, all the way down to 24 wins and a lottery team is not what I thought would happen. They seemed poised to make a run at least for a couple of seasons but they blew it all up real quickly

I present to you the worst game of the year by an individual player. Dennis Hopson

He had a -57 +/- on the game.
