Magic's Bullets

All Right - All Right, If you guys can sit down and stop yapping, we can get into these proceedings, and I can give you a little glimpse of what's happened and what's to come. I do want to sincerely Thank You! For caring about this team, and this organization enough to stake your livelihood on giving the people the best coverage of our every move, and holding us accountable to putting a great product on the floor night in and night out. And that is obviously a standard that we hold ourselves to as well. No Matter how often some hack job comes in here and tells us our publications aren't good enough. We just keep our heads down and our mouths shut, and let the work speak for itself.
We knew from the beginning that a rebuild would not be pretty when we sold off our beloved stars two seasons ago. We had to make a hard decision after we lost in the finals, whether to try and put band-aids and patches on a big problem, and hang in a zone of mediocrity, or committ to building a winner from the ground up. and we chose to start over. We had the first pick in the draft and we parlayed it into Detlef Schrempf and the fifth pick in the draft, which we used to draft Kenny Smith. No question, they're both great prospects, but neither of them is ready to lead us to a championship. So it was really a NO BRAINER last season when we had the opportunity to send them to LA for Magic Johnson!!
Now Magic is still the ONLY MVP this league has ever known. Still the most impressive specimen in the game, and the highest influence on winning of any player, on any team. But when we made the trade, people wondered what we were thinking. They said we didn't have a team to surround him with. And all we did was continue to make moves in this buyer's market, and give him the best supporting cast he has seen since this league started. We brought in the likes of Steve Johnson, Jeff Ruland, Kelly Tripucka, and Ricky Pierce. All guys who get after it on both ends of the floor, but are particularly effective at attacking the rim. But we didn't stop there. Instead, we landed Byron Scott, one of the top two way guards in the game, who is walking into his prime with some excellent passers in Magic and Sleepy Floyd to distribute the rock.
We feel like we pushed plenty of chips in, but we're not satisfied. We are going to continue to make moves all the way to the deadline to make sure we take the strongest team we can build into these playoffs, and come out on top. This front office hasn't put the phone down since we lost the finals, and we don't plan on it until we win the finals. It's championship or bust for us. Anything short of that will be considered a huge failure.
I know a few GMs took a while to return our calls, and by the time we got with them we had already struck other deals. We appreciate the interest in working out deals, and we'll be as creative as we can to make things work. We just can't wait around when good offers come in from other places.
Our starting lineup will be:
Steve Johnson
Jeff Ruland
Magic Johnson
Byron Scott
Sleepy Floyd
We're going to play hard nose defense and bend some rims.
Who has questions??
