Good morning. Thank you for joining us. We appreciate you being here for the San Antonio Spurs Presser.

Before we talk about X’s and O’s, I want to take a breath and look at that trophy sitting on the table. To see 'San Antonio Spurs' etched into that gold..... it’s humbling. For years, this city stayed patient. You stuck by us through the ups and downs, the heartbreaks, and the almosts.

Beating a Milwaukee Bucks team that played with that much heart in a six game war, it changes you. It teaches you exactly what it costs to win. To the fans who lined the streets for the parade, we saw the tears in your eyes. We carry that with us. We are deeply honored to be your champions, and we don't take a single second of this for granted.

While we are humbled by the achievement, we are not satisfied. And that starts with our Finals MVP.

If you walked into the gym during training camp this month, you wouldn't have seen a man resting on his laurels. Michael Jordan treated every practice like Game 7. He didn't just show up, he dominated the air space. He’s spent the summer in the lab refining his post game and his defensive rotations.

There was a moment in camp where he dove for a loose ball during a simple 3-on-3 drill, up by ten in a practice jersey and shouted at his teammates to pick up the intensity. When your superstar remains that hungry, it filters down to everyone. Michael, right now is the most driven human being I’ve ever been around. He’s set a standard in camp that is, quite frankly, terrifying for the rest of the league.

To stay at the top, you have to be honest about your weaknesses. We had to say goodbye to two brothers in arms, Mike Gminski and Darryl Dawkins. Their veteran presence was the foundation of our title run, and they will always have a home in San Antonio.

We knew we had to get more dynamic. We were aggressive some might say bold in trading up to draft Danny Manning. Danny is a winner who understands the sacrifice it takes to reach the summit. Watching him run the floor with Michael and Isiah during camp......it’s a vision of the future.

We also added Sam Vincent to the fold. Sam brings a quiet, professional confidence to our bench. He’s a glue guy with a high level motor who ensures that when our starters sit, the pressure on the opponent never drops.

We feel we have built a roster that is both versatile and relentless. We have the skill to out finesse you and the grit to out work you.

Isiah Thomas, the soul of this team is playing with a serene confidence that only a champion possesses.

Michael Jordan, the reigning finals MVP. He’s faster, stronger, and more focused than he was in June.

Chris Mullin is the ultimate weapon. His shooting forces defenses to pick their poison.

Rodney McCray is our silent assassin on the defensive end. He does the work no one sees but everyone feels.

Mark West with Gminski and Dawkins gone is now our anchor. He’s embraced the role of protecting the rim with a renewed ferocity.

Danny Manning our rookie phenom, his versatility is going to give opposing coaches nightmares.

Sam Vincent, the veteran stabilizer rounds out what we feel is one of the most dangerous backcourts in the league right now.

The NBA is a different world when you're the hunted rather than the hunter. The Rockets, the Pistons, the Celtics, the Bucks, they’re all coming for us. We respect them. We’ve been where they are.

But we aren't looking back. We are humbled by the ring, but we are confident in the work. With Isiah and Michael leading this group, we don't just expect to compete, we expect to dictate the terms of every game we play. We’ve tasted what it’s like to be at the top of the mountain, and quite frankly, we have no intention of coming down. To stay at the top we have to work even harder. We now It's going to be tough but win or lose I know these guys will do their best and that's all you can ask for.

If you have any questions I answer them the to the best of my ability. Maybe I get my full 5 points this time around.

As of this moment, what would you say is your biggest weakness that could rob from back-to-back ships?

Congrats on the championship. It looks like this Spurs train may not be stopping anytime soon.
You were able to navigate losing 2 big men fairly well by having West ready to step up and going after Manning in the draft. However, you have a lack of guard depth especially when it comes to the point behind IT. Do you see yourself going after someone before the deadline or have IT play most of the minutes and maybe slot MJ at the 1 if it comes down to it?

Mike Gminski obviously wasn’t the future of the organization, but how Ismael west going to handle your division rival’s big man Patrick Ewing? 78# really seems like he’s trying to beat the Spurs!

Nick Melon; Charlotte Observer: Given the talent on this roster and the Championship you just won, including the yearly success of the Spurs Training Camps, you’ve expressed that you think this team could possibly get the # 1 pick in the next draft ahead…. How do you think that can be accomplished or was that more in jest?

Steve Duin, the Oregonian:

With Chris Mullin likely to be paid handsomely this offseason, what, if any, are your plans to continue to reinforce the Spurs via Free Agency going forward?

Depth at center. Once Gminski and Dawkins signed with other teams during free agency, that left a whole in our front court. West can handle being a starter but we don't want him to have to carry that load alone.

I think Sam can be serviceable until we fill that need or even McCray if needed. They are capable of running the point while giving Thomas a break during games.

It is unfortunate that we lost out on Gminski. We sent him a offer but he decided twice (resim) not to return to San Antonio. Ewing is a great player but we have a few players that can offset Ewing's production. West knows his role on the team and will continue to do a great job at it.

Anything is possible. I've seen the Messi brothers have the worst odds and win the lotto

History has shown it's hard to get free agents to play in San Antonio. Maybe a few trades. Maybe move into a new arena. We are in talks and the City of San Antonio has brought to my attention that they are building the Alamodome and would like us to play there once construction is complete. Maybe that would help get some guys to sign. It's hard to get players to join or even stay. I am guessing I will need to start overpaying until the dome is built.
