Did I ever do the thing where the lights are off and The JNR obnoxiously sing the lyrics to Feelin Good by Nina Simone? I feel like maybe. Anyway…

“it’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life…”

Someone thankfully turns on the lights to end this madness. The JNR is dancing before he realizes everyone can see him.

The JNR: WHO DID THAT?

He straightens his suit and moves to the podium.

The JNR: Whatever. Anyway, yeah, I’m feeling good. Not only did we make the playoffs, we won a series against the Lakers. Yes, we were swept by the Spurs, but it was a good run and it showed me that this team can do some good things.

I feel even better about the team after the draft. We moved up to grab Charles Oakley, who has a lot of potential and can shore up our defense. And we brought back Rolando Blackman, who I am excited to see take the reins at the 2 guard spot. If I keep my head focused, which is always tough for me, I think this squad may be the most talented we’ve had in this era.

The division is tough. The conference is tough. But that just means we need to be tough. And I think we will be. We plan on rolling out the following lineup

C: Dave Corzine
PF: Charles Oakley
SF: Mike Mitchell
SG: Rolando Blackman
PG: Reggie Theus

With Higgins, Bratz and Ballard providing valuable bench minutes.

Chet Youbetcha, Dimmadome News: You mention being excited about the season, and it is a good reason to be excited for your team, is there any perspective of moving your team from San Diego to Los Angeles seeing as it was announced to supposed to happen in the 1984 season?

The JNR: If I have my druthers we will never leave San Diego. I love it here. It’s beautiful. Hopefully we aren’t forced to leave.

The JNR: He will start for now and I think he will be a big part of our teams defense and effort.

The JNR: It’s actually what has me most excited about the team. There’s a lot of room for moving pieces around and flexibility and I am excited to see how it shakes out.

The JNR: Winning a playoff series certainly helped, but I have believed in the talent of this team since last year. It’s all about keeping myself focused enough to harness that talent into something sustainable. I do think I can make another run in the playoffs depending on health.

The JNR: It’s got to be Higgins. He’s such a Swiss Army knife, and I fully believe he will spend time in the starting lineup as well. Being able to get the best versions of Higgins and Blackman is imperative for us to go where we need to go.
