Season 5 MVP

Nominate who you think was the most valuable player this year. Any player that was active this season is available for the award.
Anybody who submits a nomination can claim 1 point (excluding self-nominations).
The max points allowed to receive for submitting a season 3 award is 1 point, even if you submit nominations in other categories
Winning nomination gets an additional point awarded for the win.
Nominations are due by September 5th at 4pm central.

It's really no contest here. As much as I want to say Kevin Mchale, Magic Johnson is the RUNAWAY MVP of the season. He's no longer leading the league in scoring, but he's literally 2 rebounds away from averaging a triple double. The man is efficient as hell, and literally the only reason the Lakers are in the playoff position they are in. You can nominate anyone else, but he's the only person who really deserves this award

The top player on the (potentially) top team is the MVP. Kevin McHale carries the team in points with 33 points per game. But he doesn't stop there. Want some rebounds? McHale 9.6, including 2.7 on the offensive end. Well he must only play on one side of the ball. Nope! He averages 3.2 blocks per game as an anchor on the defensive end.
This team is pulling away in the East with a clear number one player, which is not the same for the best record in the west.

I'm going to ruffle some (Quail) feathers here and nominate Hakeem Olajuwon:

Now, the Celtics are obviously not using him to his full potential; he's averaging 24.7 minutes per game when he should be averaging at least 36. Despite that tremendous minutes handicap, he's #14 in the league in scoring (24.8 ppg in 24.7 mpg), #18 in blocks, and #4 in field goal percentage. If he was getting Calvin Natt minutes (36.7), he'd probably be leading the league in scoring and challenging for the top in rebounds, blocks, and steals.
I know, I know, his team is garbage, but don't blame Hakeem.

He may not have the stats of some of these other fools this season, but Moses Malone created a true title contender in NY

You'd expect his numbers to have gone up after leaving Golden State, but instead of sharing the scoring duties with another big man, they were bolstered by Bernard King, one of the best scorers this league has ever seen, and STILL Moses's scoring didn't drop by much at all. Without Moses, the Knicks are middle of the pack. With Moses, everyone should be afraid, big time.
