San Diego Clippers S3 Presser

The JNR wakes up to find that the press has gathered for another press conference. He rubs his eyes and yawns.

The JNR: Oh man, I swear I just finished one of these. Maybe I did and went back to sleep and that was the problem. I have been paying a lot of attention in the offseason since we got to San Diego...and then the season starts and I fall asleep. The team hasn't been inspiring, and that is partly my fault, but also there hasn't been much to be inspired by. Decent individual play. Good defense. An absolutely atrocious offense. We've been bottom of the league since this reset.

And that is why, after mostly staying to myself for this build, I completed a trade. We brought Walter Davis to the team in exchange for draft capital. I believe that Davis can do what we have struggled to do since I got here - put the ball in the basket. We don't have our draft pick this year, and so that will force me to stay awake and try to make sure we go where we've never gone before.

Free agency was a thing. We signed some depth pieces. Guys who we're excited to see contribute. And training camp was mostly good. Our young stars continued to improve, as did Walter. I think at the end of the day, we should be improved enough to make a run at the postseason.

This conference is absolutely brutal. Everyone, or at least almost everyone, is gunning for that championship. And while we could've continued to sleep walk through the years, I wanted to have a reason worth staying up for, and I think we have.

Preseason went well, but our offense was still anemic and we won against teams that mostly didn't win. So I will keep my expectations tempered. Our starting lineup will be

C: James Edwards
PF: Greg Ballard
SF: Rolando Blackman
SG: Walter Davis
PG: Reggie Theus

With Phil Smith, Ben Poquette and Billy McKinley providing valuable minutes off the bench. We now open it up to any questions, provided I don't fall asleep before you ask them.

If pre-season is any indicator, Walter Davis & Reggie Theus look poised to be one of the best back courts in the league. In your opinion, how did you feel after seeing their pre-season output and in what way did it validate that IamQuailman is a great trading partner who wants both teams to come out on top in any transaction?

The JNR: I won't speak to the obvious trolling second part of the question, but to answer the first: I was impressed with their scoring. I'd like to see it translate in the regular season.

Before you go to sleep, you have acknowledged the starting five, which, honestly, looks pretty solid. Depth may be the biggest problem for San Diego. Do you have any plans to end the season-long slumber earlier than normal and shore up your bench a bit?

The JNR: If the opportunity presents itself, absolutely I will try to improve the bench.

You're one of the old heads that came back for the re-creation draft, how do you feel about your decision to return, and how do you feel about your performance as a general manager?
