Town Hall Sim 12

Post by Mike Lowry »

Which team has the most momentum going into the playoffs?
Does momentum matter in the NPBSL?
Are there any unlikely teams that you think will make a run in the playoffs?

Rules: 1 point if you give thoughtful answers, which I will award after the timer ends for responses. The timer ends for responses at the moment the corresponding week's Sim is run.

Note: Use approximately 5 sentences as your bare minimum for 1 point. If you write 3 long, complex sentences, you'll still get a point. If you write 5, 3 word sentences, you will not get a point. Don't @ me.

Due: Due by the deadline for sim 12

In terms of momentum, I really think we have to see how the 12th sim shakes out. After 11 sims, though, I have to go with the Spurs. They're the hottest team right now. Indiana might be the best, but my extremely mid warriors beat them on the road last sim. Looking at the Spurs schedule, they have a couple of tough games - one in Denver and the other against Boston - but they could and probably will roll on the rest of them.

Does momentum really matter? Probably. I went on a 12 gm win streak in an otherwise very mid season. Meanwhile, the Spurs couldn't decide whether to go in or pull out (the penultimate conundrum, am i right) because they went on sprees of wins then losses then wins. So I guess it matters, but it is not consistent.

It's not impossible that I get knocked out of the playoffs in Sim 12, either. I think Houston could very well do it. And if they do, I think they're a sleeper team to watch in the playoffs that has underperformed based on my expectations. Could be a problem just waiting to happen...
Somehow I manage.

Momentum kinda matters I guess. With the game being so random what you think is momentum could be just luck. As far as teams that are hot, The Nets are hot at the right time. They are finally healthy again with Chocolate Thunder back. I think they could make a deep post season run. plus they have the league's best defense. Ya know the old saying is "defense wins championships." The unlikely team that can make a run is the Warriors. They are having a rough 2nd half of the season but I think they can make a run with the soon to be league MVP Moses Malone taking over come postseason. Their GM just have to figure a few things out and they should be fine.

I'm going to go with Portland
5 game win streak and 11 out of the last 15
Not to mention 3 of the 4 losses were on the road.
I think the whole league demonstrated that in 1981 home field advantage is real.
They are set for at least one series at home and I expect them to hold the house.

Which team has the most momentum going into the playoffs?
- Portland is on a tear lately. It took a lttle while, but they finally hit their stride after a slow start to the season
- Milwaukee also has a ton of momentum post-trade deadline and the addition of Parrish.

Does momentum matter in the NPBSL?
- I think there is some things with momentum that matter, but once you're in the playoffs all it takes is a bad matchup to stop the momentum in its track.

Are there any unlikely teams that you think will make a run in the playoffs?
- I have the Nets as sneaky team to watch. Dawkins back gives them a huge offensive weapon.
