Trade?

At this time in every previous future season of PBSL, GMs were in a frenzy on the trade market, firing off DMs, leaving trails of slime, and giving others the opportunity to improve their chances at winning a title in the post-season.
S1 1980, though? Crickets.
Are we gun shy? Content? Not seeing what we want? The absence of quality PFs in 1980 probably has many GMs scratching their heads on how to move forward, so let’s take a look at everyone and evaluate whether their front office should be making some phone calls right about now.
EAST
Central
Atlanta
Trade?
Yes…I guess.
There isn’t much happening in ATL right now. If they make a move, perhaps they could get some points for win now talent like Randy Smith or Major Jones. Neither player will be game changers for another team, but Randy Smith could offer a team some two-way help off the bench, or starting if necessary. Major Jones could fill in some big man gaps, and lots of teams need those filled. Basically, their timeline is later, so if they get win talent off the books now for a little return, it’s a good idea for the future.
Chicago
Trade?
Sitting at .500, it’s hard to advise a team like Chicago. Could they trade? Sure. Should they? If the right deal is there, then perhaps. Any reason to aggressively seek anything? Probably. This team lacks a primary scorer. That type of player will not fall in to Chicago’s lap, but if they stumble across a 20ppg player, they should jump on them quickly.
Milwaukee
Trade?
Always.
Here’s the first team active seeking something on the trade block. It’s not a bad decision, but also not surprising. If anyone is trading first, it’s Quailman. He said he’s looking for old farts, so if you are a GM with good old farts, make sure you get at least a full 10 from Quailman Love you Doug <3

Cleveland
Trade?
No.
First team in this analysis that gets a no. Change what, exactly? Rick Mahorn is a solid, still-developing big man. Their back court is dynamite and young af. Closer I look at this? The Cavs had a freaking incredible creation draft. Cheers, sir! NPBSL was all you needed to climb out of mediocrity!
Detroit
Trade?
Oof…no?
This is tough. We just witnessed their worst sim of the season. Rickey Green is hurt. Their forwards are freaking dynamite. I think this team is having a tough spell, but one to keep together. Roundfield is the best pure PF I’ve seen in my analysis so far.
Indiana
Trade?
Heeellllllllll no!
Team to beat, right here. Pacers. Well-done, Pauly. You are the strongest link!
Atlantic
Philadelphia
Trade?
No… ugh, still no.
Nothing is clicking in Philly, like, at all. But if digiskunk made some tweaks here and there? Spent some time on his team’s index page like he would drawing an awesome digi-gram? I think there’s something salvageable here. Besides, if we’re trading… what are we trading for??
New York
Trade?
Yes.
I would put Darrell Griffith on the block right away for an older, win now blue-blue bloke to pair with Julius Erving and Billy Knight. I’m sure there’s someone out there clamoring for a 22 yr old b/b PG…
Washington
Trade?
Yes.
My favorite trade block thus far. Just got started and ready to blow it up. Hey, if it ain’t working, ya gotta fix it! The bullets need a fix for sure. I’d start with moving Michael Ray Richardson or Brad Davis. Feels like they’re too similar of players just stepping on each other’s toes.
HOWEVER... on second glance...
Trade?
No. Not yet.
The Bullets are coming off their best sim of the season. Now that Richardson is healthy and their roster is complete again, maybe wait a bit and see where things go. They looked good in some tough road games in Detroit and Cleveland and Milwaukee and did not come out on top. They did, however, stop the number one team in their own division, the New Jersey Nets, at home.
Did I mention they handed Indiana their only home loss of the season as well? By a blowout? This is not the Washington we had come to know through 3 sims. Perhaps the murmurs out of the front office leaked their way into the lockerroom, and the general consensus was, guys, let's stay in DC and win some games!!
Boston
Trade?
No.
I dig this team’s roster construction. Possibly the best front court in the league. Stay put, for sure, stay put!
New Jersey
Trade?
Obvious no.
I wasn’t high on Darrell Dawkins. I think I have a problem, because I had a crack and Darrell and passed. Not enough A potentials. I looked in all the wrong places and whiffed big here. Cliff is also good. Drew gonna be good.
Dat Jersey team? Dat team good.
WEST
Midwest
San Antonio
Trade?
Oooooof…
…what a tough sim for the Spurs. Just a gauntlet of road games I’d wish on no one. I still think San Antonio stays put, but if I were Carlos I’d start reevaluating. I don’t expect he will, though, and he probably doesn’t need to. That was just a tough, tough team page to refresh after sim 4.
Houston
Trade?
Yes.
Houston has one of the best big 3’s in the league, but they’re a .500 team. I think they should consolidate assets and get one more solid supporting piece, even if they have to cough up 10 points.
Denver
Trade?
Maybe.
I could go either way with Denver. Could trade, could stay put. I would probably lean moving some younger assets for another win now player, but at 14-17 it might not be time to spend.
Dallas
Trade?
No.
Dallas’s ascent to the top is complete. Definitely sit tight. Issel and Gervin? Chef’s kiss of a pair.
Utah
Trade?
Yes.
Gotta build around Kiki. Everything else is secondary.
Kansas City
Trade?
Why bother?
See you in the offseason, SuperDog!
That shall conclude my evaluation of every team outside of my division on whether or not to make a move. How could I possibly share trade secrets within my division when my last place brother-in-law has already declared war on the Bay Area??
Til next time, folks!
