Welcome to the 1980 Spurs preseason press conference. We appreciate you all accepting our fax invite to this presser. Today we are here from the future, 2061 to be exact. We came back in time to try again at this thing we call SLOE. I know you all do not believe me and may have me thrown in a half way house but I am here to let you know the 2061 Celtics are the reason we are here today. We were forced to go back into the SLOE timeline to fix what was killing the league in 2061.
With that said, we will like to start our 1980 presser. Last season was kinda disappointing for the 2061 Spurs. We lost to the Bulls in the first round after running the table to the finals with a losing record in the season prior. We now have to embrace this change in the SLOEverse. We will try and bring some of the things we did in 2060 here in the 80's. Hopefully some of it will work out. We are happy that the draft has finally ended after a week that felt like a month. I am happy with my current roster but the plan is to build for the future. We plan to build the team around Mchale and another player after his Preseason production Natt. Hopefully this isn't a mirage.
I don't have much to say tbh and that's why my presser is prolly boring and all over the place. So I will just open up questions from you guys and will as always, try to answer to the best of my ability.

Chet Youbetcha, Dimmadome News: Word from the media coordinator is that you did not mention much of anything related to your current team, how you went about the draft, or what you expect of this team both in the immediate future or the near distant future? With that said, he was also gracious for your media article that you wrote with the Nets GM and wants to know if this reboot that the Celtics spurred on from their win (as you suggested) will lead to a renewed interest from you in the form of more involvement in a media stand point? Additionally, with such a young core of McHale, Natt, and Toney - do you plan to slow roll this team to build up another long term spurs dynasty?

Steve Duin, the Oregonian: What do you see as your young core's biggest strengths and how do you plan to utilize those strengths to build a winning culture in San Antonio?

Mike Royko, Chicago Tribune: After evaluating your team, what position do you feel is the biggest need for you in next years draft? Looking at the draft file, is there one player that sticks out as a prime candidate to boost your team for the future?

To answer you question about my current team, I know nothing about them at the moment. The preseason as exciting it looked, is most of the time fools gold. Once I've seen more of them I can give a more accurate assessment. With the drafting I figured where I was picking at 10, I would have to go with the BPA on our board at the time. Whether you are old would determine my route. When a rookie Mchale was still around at 10 I then decided to try and put together a team full of non experienced rookies with Natt being the exception with only 1 year of experience. I couldn't pass him up. As far as my media involvement that is TBD. I do have ideas but it just up to me to execute them in a form of a article or 2. The plan is to keep with what has worked for a very long time and that's to slow roll it with a core of young guys watching them grow and become great. As we know in life things could change and change my mind as far as the slow roll but we will see how things play out.

They athletic and can jump out of the gym. I Think with a good TC next season McHale and Natt can become better defenders. I believe once they hit their full potential they will be really good players. I plan on giving them every opportunity to showcase their strengths this season. We will began with showcasing them on the offensive end until their defensive development catches up in a few years if everything goes as we think it will.

Our biggest need or at point guard and the center position. MchHale's true position is at the PF and by us lacking in the center department, he have to play him there until we are able to fill that need. As for our PG area, I would like to have a player who is a elite defender along with the ability to pass the ball. If there's a player in the draft that could my team It would be Isiah Thomas but IDK if my team will be bad enough me us to in position to get him. If the preseason is what's to come then we won't be no where near in the running for him.

Without the benefits of the mythical Spurs TC bump, how do you plan to excel this season? Who do you expect to get the first Spurs TC bump next year?

Arthur Morgan, Red Dead Redemption 2: Hey partner! Andrew Toney has to be one of the biggest steals of the draft. What do you feels he needs to work on the most to excel in this league full of bustling superstars?

Random Reporter: With the shot taken at the Celtics and their GM and the recent collab with the Nets' GM, is it safe to say a new rivalry has sprung up?

Well the thing with TC gods they exist in every timeline. I expect the same benefits from the TC gods here too. I asked one of them to join me and the rebooted Spurs here. I think he hopped into the time machine at some point but we will find out come next season. IDK how this team will excel this season to be honest. If preseason is what to come then we will just try to just outscore teams. 1st Spurs TC bump will Definitely be McHale I think or If my team sucks whomever the lotto pick is will get a nice bump.

Play defense. If he can work on his defense, he could become a really good player in this league but until then we are asking him to score. His preseason was shockingly good. We hope this production translates into the regular season.

IDK if there's a rivalry TBH. The Celtics are the current champs even tho we move back in time. They are the team to beat right now. I would like to renew my rivalry with 78 and his Rockets. When 1st started this league there were always 3 guarantees in SLOE life , Death, Taxes, Spurs bet the Rockets. We are looking to bring back that tradition.
