Good morning everyone and welcome to another Spurs preseason presser. Glad you can join us today. I will get to your questions in a minute but I want to talk about last season. Last season was supposed to be a tank year for my franchise and I failed miserably at it. So miserably that we ran the table and made it to the finals. With a losing record. When making the post season, I found motivation when in the past I would coast or throw anything out there because I was bored. Playing this game for years, since it's inception would do that. I figured since I am here in the post season that I would actually try this time around and show that talent alone wont get you far without a game plan or adjustments. I made those adjustments each series and it got this tanking team to the final vs the pistons. We did get swept but I had almost figured out a strategy to win but it didn't happen. This run would not have happened without Jose, SVG, Master P, Widener and the other role players. Jose was by far the team and playoff MVP IMO. He showed that age ain't nothing but a number. This past season was unexpected but fun and I think the fans enjoyed that ride. That ride got my team taxes paid. Need every point
On this season where we are trying to tank again. Hopefully this time around we can actually tank. It should be a little easier with the departure of Jose, SVG and Widener. We are starting our rebuild this season and hopefully we are back contending soon. My goal is a high lotto pick and build from there. We have a lot of young guys on the roster who will gain a lot of experience this season. This year will not be judge by wins an losses but how the players play and if the fit what we are trying to build. We will see how things go.
Now that I yapped enough, feel free to ask any questions and as always I will answer to the best of my ability.

Congrats on a great run last season. You definitely surprised me in Round 2.
Do you see Percy Miller as part of your future build or do you plan to move him to speed up your rebuild?

How much do you think AJ Blaze would help you in repeating your crushing of the Mavericks spirits this season?

Thank you. I was highly motivated this past postseason. I had decided I was going to actually take my adjustments seriously.
As far as Master P being apart of my teams future, with the cap space I currently have and being tax free, I can go any route. I am looking to move him for a nice rebuild package but if I can't get that I will just retain him and pay him the supermax.

He can help out a bit but I would need to make other moves after acquiring Blaze. It would be nice to repeat what I did last season again, especially with a roster with only 35 years and older guys.

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: After a GM vote MVP and a playoff run that demonstrated that Alvarado still has a lot of skill at PG, were you surprised at the contract he ended up receiving? Was it too high, too low, too long, or just right?

The Net of Brooklyn: Does the organization feel vindicated after dusting off the playbook and showing the newer GMs the ole playoff Spurs?

I think Jose' earned the contract he received from the Nuggets. The only thing I would have done differently was to have the last year of the deal be a team option just in case TC doesn't go well next season. Would give the Nuggets the flexibility to decline that option.

The organization and fans loved everything about that run. Being motivated by a team calling for rule changes for me not paying taxes saying I should be punished made me want it more. That team should be punished for having all of those purple players and losing to a team with a losing record, gentlemanlike spotting their team 3 games. Also showed that age is nothing but a number. Thing is people forget to put me in the discussion of one of the best GMs in this league. I had to send a friendly reminder to put some respect on my name lol.

Ted Tonka, Terryville Times: You had an amazing run last season while in tanking mode; what's your strategy on tanking going into this season? Trade away your best players? Do you think if you don't set a depth chart that you might win it all? Or will you "try" and get a good pick for a rebuild?

Are you excited about the rebuild? It's been a while since you did a full on Rebuild... maybe since BI/Peewee?

My goal is to try to position my team to be a player in the lotto. Last year we had a losing record and still made the playoffs. Once in I was motivated to actually try and win series. Once I got past round one I thought maybe I could run the table since I was playing with house money. As far as trading away my best players, there's one really good play on my squad and that's Master P. If I can get fair value for him I will be open to moving him. If not I will just hold on to him and offer a supermax.

I am excited to finally start my rebuild. I love watching the players grow and become superstars. Whether it's here or on the Bulls or Pistons lol.
