Mavs Pre-Season Presser 71

The Mavs barely missed the playoffs last year, and we've improved since then. Aja is coming up from the G-League this year to see if she can contribute. We also have some solid scoring at the SG position with the pickup of Candice Parker.

We planned on going small ball, but this team might be a bit too far gone, even for me. We have no centers that aren’t young or unproven. We will make a trade for a legitimate center this season. We don’t need a scoring center, but rather a rebounding, defensive center with shot-blocking abilities.

Our frontcourt is going to be one of the best in the league. However, I’m starting to worry that this game is still a big man's game.

The best thing that happened was getting the #2 pick. But no one wanted the #2 pick, which was weird. Once we were unable to trade the #2 pick, we were so young that we were unable to insure everyone that needed it. So inevitably, the #2 pick (Bird) got hit in training camp.

PF: Dom
C: ??????

6th man: Aja

Candace Parker was a great pickup for you. Do you plan on extending them in the offseason?
You said you're in need of a center, is there anyone that's untouchable or will you be open to all offers?

In retrospect, would you have chosen to insure Sue Bird over anyone else that you insured? What do you mean by 'this team is too far gone'?

Yeah, I should have chanced Parker because she one has 1 year left on her contract. But becasue you said 26 year old get hit more often I chanced Bird.

"By to far gone" I meant: maybe to far down the small ball whole.
