#SLOE: People's Basketball Sim League

Its just about that time to post award voting. My main question, which I will choose to include or ignore, is what categories of these current awards do you hate and would be ok if they went away? What is 1 category would you add if you could? Just want to get a general feeling on how people like the system as it is.

Timeline:
Looking to post the threads for nominations by the start of playoffs.
Will wait until week of the Finals to put together the ballot.
Have final votes due by start of next season and hand out awards as soon as I am able to calculate everyone's votes.

I'd get rid of the Jib Jab award since I don't think people should get rewarded for doing dumb shit.

I'd also get rid of Coach of the Year. Right now, it's basically the same as GMOY. It's supposed to be different, but it never really has been. It's all pretty much the same thing anyway.

One award I think would be cool would be like, a sportsmanship award for the GM who's been the most helpful and gone above and beyond to contribute in positive ways aside from paid league responsibilities. Could just be a GM who's been the least of an asshole. It might be the same GMs in the running for this every season because we are who we are, but it'd be different than anything we're recognizing right now.

I actually like that one alot. Kind of like a Walter Payton Man of the Year award. Thanks for the suggestion.

Jib Jab and meme could go, IMO. I don't have as strong an opinion on the memes, so don't care much either way but I agree with Josh on Jib Jab. I also agree with him on the fact that coach/gm awards just rarely have much to separate them. I think most folks just nominate the same folks, but vote for different people in them so it looks unique.

An award that could be cool in theory, but probably tough to put into place, would be a Most Improved GM award. I wouldn't make it heavily based on team record, since we see swings in team performance often. However, maybe combining that with the types of moves, trades, signings, level of engagement, a GM has season to season, for a full view of their work. I don't know, I just wanted to be able to give you some response since you're taking the time to take up the awards mantle.

@JediHero - Also suggesting that nominations need to be well thought out a la Town Halls. Charlie and his sad ass once sentence nominations aren't cutting it. If you're gonna nominate my article, at least mention the article's title and sell it a little so it wins.
