S70 Town Hall #6: "I'm all ... Toasty Inside!"

Let's get back into some positivity.
What I want everyone to do:
I want you to write about the GM who posts directly above you in this thread. Tell everyone the things you've seen them do that you believe they do well. It could a certain general aspect of the game such as memes or articles or roster building, it could be a particular trade or signing, or what they bring to the group chat or just their general vibe.
** Whoever goes first can pick who they write about. **
Rules: 1 point if you give thoughtful answers which I will award after the timer ends for responses. The timer ends for responses at the moment the corresponding week's Sim is run.
Note: Use approximately 5 sentences as your bare minimum for 1 point. If you write 3 long, complex sentences, you'll still get a point. If you write 5 3 word sentences, you will not get a point. Don't @ me.
Due: Sim 6 deadline.

I’m going to go ahead and go first because, I don’t want to get stuck with the Nuggets or Cavs.
I’m going to gush over a GM who does not usually post in these thing and that I had the fortune of trading with recently, Xist2Inspire.
Xist does this game uniquely, in his own way, right. His player evaluation may not always be the same as others, but hell… I should be more like him. He has a career winning percentage of .564 and has been to the playoffs an impressive 48 times. That means in the 68 years he has played this game, he has missed the playoffs only 20 times.
As previously mentioned, he has a unique view on talent. He often flies under the radar because he doesn’t have three to four purple players to rely on. He will even offer contracts to guys that I would never consider having on my team, yet they seem to produce.
This season he has also managed to run a great, where before the season I don’t think many people would have even considered him as a serious contender. He then goes and gets Hub and Gates, goes on a 17 game win streak and now is one of the best teams in the league.
Finally, Xist is just a good guy. He is always a good chat in trade talks, or if you have an idea you want to float past him. Hell he even gave me some advice this season on who to go after while he was waiting to hear back from me on our deal.
Anyways, good luck this season X. Get AG the championship I couldn’t.

I think Charlie aka angrybanana does a great job at annoying me haha. Nah, but I do think Charlie does a great job at mentoring his angels. I don't even know which kids are Charlie's at this point because there's a lot. But I do know that the cavs, grizz, raptors, and nuggets are super active and I love that. Pels are active too. The game is in a better place when trades and movement can happen.
Those teams are not only active, they're all competing and trying! Again, I love that. This is as competitive and clustered of a season I've seen in a while. Last season was pretty much the same, so maybe it hasn't been a while ha.
In regards to the game itself, Charlie's a former champ so there's no criticism that I can throw his way. He's done a good job at building teams and flipping assets. He's not afraid to move on from a player in favor of a rebuild(Gates and AB come to mind). Charlie is good at recognizing when to throw in the white flag, and he'll benefit from it again with a top lottery pick this year, while also having future great talent on the roster.
*This is me getting in here before the cavs or nuggets leave a weird message following their leader*

I just happened to check in for low hanging fruit.
First I want to THANK Black Superman for stepping up and taking on the Commissioner role!
He's doing a great job so far, and I have felt safe enough to show up for some of the services he offered and been very pleased by his timely responses.
I also LOVE the fact that he is outspoken on all the platforms and very active in player movement.
He certainly gets involved in heated exchanges at the drop of a dime, and that entertainment keeps this league alive.
It took a while for us to understand each other's negotiating style when it comes to trades, but I think he is so active that he probably has a good feel for everyone in the league.
That's a real talent, because I am showing up consistently in every negotiation, but it seems like he effectively gauges what he can ask of each individual and trades in that area.
He certainly moves more bodies than I do.
So I would say his Super Powers are engagement and entertainment, they both benefit this league greatly.

Mike Lowry is the man. We all know about the draft flips that got him out of the tax. I still don’t know if he won GM of the year for those flips but he should have.
Early on Mike was the first GM outside of @greepleairport to take pbsl with me for a while. He was also one of the first players I started to trade with. I started to ask him questions before I even went to @greepleairport. He is a super chill dude who has never tried to screw me over with trades. He’s also been fun to chat with. Sometimes he’ll even help you find someone available on another team.
While me and greeple don’t evaluate players the same way, me and Mike Lowry see the game in very similar ways. We have both struggled to make our way up the standings but a while ago we started to identify the aspects of the game that can keep a team down. This led to a similar understanding of evaluations and eventually led to the shift in the market (with regards to young talent) you see today.
I haven’t been chatting with you for a while but let's get it going again.

The first thing to get out of the way immediately is we don't entirely see this game the same way, which means we won't approach it the same way. Which is also perfectly fine because how boring would the game be if all of us did?
I've had no extensive conversations with Casey, and have only had quick trade conversations, and I don't think we've ever pulled one off.
That being said, he's not afraid of going for who and what he wants AND he's not afraid of being uniquely him. There was plenty of chatter about what all he gave up to pull Aja, but as I told others, there's extreme value in going out and getting a player that you love and if you're happy afterwards, nothing else matters. Casey epitomizes that.
I've also seen Casey's understanding of the people he's working with evolve. When we were discussing him adding Safi last deadline to this season when he's asked about Daniel Johnson and Dennis Funkhouser, there was a shift. In early talks, he'd sent some truly awful offers (Sorry!) and now I don't always like what he's sending due to our different views, but in recent talks he's been open with me about knowing how his offers are perceived and just asking me what good starting points may be. It's given our talks a bit more meat, even if they've yet to grow into a Finalized one.
Perhaps most important, Casey is active. It's the true lifeblood of the league. He's not in the FB group chat but he's trading, he's responsive to PMs, he's memeing, article writing, and giving Jon shit any chance he gets. He makes the league more interesting and that's a gift in a league deep into its 70th season.
Cheers, Casey, and here's to us finally pulling off a deal some day.

I really hope nobody beats me to Mamba, but even so, my words stand and I'll post for someone else, too.
There's no question that Roberto is an expert at this game. I think he has the best regular season record by a mile and probably deserves at least two tree more rings than he actually has due to some badbreaks in the playoffs.
He's a fast learner and became a force to be reckoned with as fast as anyone here. Even though he's not a techy guy, he excelled at picking up commissioner duties quickly and ran this thing for a long dang time.
But the best thing about Roberto is somthing you can't teach, and that's his patience, level headedness, and overall quality as a human being. I've never met anyone who could say a bad thing about Roberto, and there are only a handful of people in this game...orany internet game...that I could say that about. Hecan get along with anyone no matter how hard they are to get along with, and he treats folks with thoughtfulness and respect.
I'm so glad he answered the call to play this dumb game and grateful for his extremely crucial contributions to make sure it's stillgoing strong.

Never forget the He Hor trade! Thanks for the kind words, and your ability to be the most likeable GM.

I've only been in the league for 3 seasons and while I don't know most of the league all that well or have that much to say, all I've seen is the bulls be at the top of the standings. Back to back seasons of 50+ wins and well on there way to another one since I've joined. And I see they've won it all in 2 of the past 5 seasons. I'm not really sure how they do it, but I hope I can build my team up to that level of consistency. They built their team the right way and it shows. His team seems built to still compete for a few more seasons and I'm sure he'll make some trades along the way to keep his team at the top
While we haven't been successful in trade talks (mainly because I might be a little nervous to pull the trigger), He was very helpful and talkative throughout. Maybe one day we can make it happen after I get some more development out of my players

I do not know the Pelicans GM but since he is from the AngryBanana tree and has two former Raptors (Tony Lee and Ayo Dosunmu) he has to be a good dude. I am impressed with how active the Pelicans GM has been for being so new. He took over Sim Vegas and has been active in the trade market which is a great introduction to the league. I really think his young core of Longar, Pizzaro, and Bender could potentially be championship contender if they stick together for the long haul. I expect once some their bad contracts come off the books the Pelicans will be in a position to compete so I'll be looking forward to see them try to climb the ranks amongst the league's best.

I don't know the Raptors GM. But, he's not AB, K100, and Superdog. And for that, I'm a big fan. Raptors seem a cool dude, the very few times we have communicated. I like how active he is during trades. In fact, I'm not active in trades. The truth is I don't feel comfortable being on the tax list. In my mind I don't want to be on the tax bill because that means, I will have to post memes and articles on K100 and AB. At this point I don't want to hurt their feelings.
Look at Superdog. There is a reason why Superdog is not active. Believe me, Superdog reads my posts. Superdog can't handle it.
Raptors GM does things I personally don't do. And for that I'm a big fan. Hope Raptors GM makes it deep in the playoffs. Good luck.

So many thoughts about jlmarines...
Long ago we were roommates and got introduced to the game by AngryBanana and the rest is history. I've seen jlmarines go through the ups and downs of sim league but the dude is always in good spirits. He always tries to compete but never crosses that line into being obnoxious which is a welcome sight.
I give jlmarines so much grief in the league because he is such a great dude. He is a terrible GM but such a nice guy and an even better friend when he isnt delusionally comparing terrible FSU teams to my beloved Tennessee. I hope jlmarines makes it to the Finals one day so he doesnt complain the game is rigged but I hope to be the one who beats him.

@K-100 , my first ever sim league nemesis, I adore thee.
Even though every time i 'mention' you some weird thing happens where it tries to mention you twice and a drop down to mention you again lingers until I realize that for some reason after the mention selection was made there's still the original @ symbol that won't go away and Fryes my shit up until I realize what's going on and go back and delete that original @ symbol
I adore thee.
When I joined the league I was exploring my alter ego of evil, and you were a very willing dance partner. There was no rational reason for me to act the way I did when you signed g/b Mike Burnham to a better deal than me, when I thought I had him locked, but I went insane. It was so much fun! I think I developed a horrible reputation for it, but for some reason, not with you. You had a blast with me. And troll me to this day!
Every time you get out of the tax the league excitement increases. We have a ruthless GM in you that is not afraid to take enormous swings to grab a title, and you've nailed this method twice. Third try charm is coming up and I can't wait to see what you do, or what sure fire champ you destroy via some method that makes zero logical sense. We don't know how you do it, but you've continued to do it. And now you have serious young talent boosting your squad? Look out everyone, K-100 is feeling out his return. And he will destroy you.

@greepleairporty baybay. We had some tough negotiations a couple times where I thought you came out hating me, but our bond has never been stronger. We send dirty talk DMs on Facebook, and salacious memes on the gram. But in sim league you are a constant positive heartbeat keeping the league energized and afloat. <3
