After the positivity of Town Hall #2, let's take after a city getting stomped out by a Godzilla attack and RUN FOR YOUR LIVES! PANIC!
Pick a team, yours or another (or both?), and give us the reasons why they/you have reason to panic after sim 2. Also, with D60 approaching, do you see any way they can remedy those panicky feelings?
Rules: 1 point if you give thoughtful answers which I will award after the timer ends for responses. The timer ends for responses at the moment the corresponding week's Sim is run.
Note: Use approximately 5 sentences as your bare minimum for 1 point. If you write 3 long, complex sentences, you'll still get a point. If you write 5 3 word sentences, you will not get a point. Don't @ me.
Due: Sim 3 deadline.

I’m picking my team for this. The only reason to panic is the offense. Dimaggio, who’s quickly jumped into my favorite players on my team ever list, is averaging about 1/4 of the offense. The rest of them are hit or miss but the averages went up after Sim 2 for the other players averaging more than 10 points. It was only 3 players averaging more than 10 after Sim 1 so this actually was an improvement. I’m not trading or anything on Day 60. I want to see if I can win 15 games with 3 green currents and 12 yellow currents. The fact I’m almost halfway there through 2 Sims and only out of the playoffs by .5 is an accomplishment with this roster. Straight up, if I come anywhere close to the playoffs at the end of the season with this team I should win GM of the Year for the first time ever. Not going to happen, I know, but doing this with an offense averaging under 100 points and no blues or purples is an accomplishment. As far as panicking goes any team with three or more blue currents who’s doing worse than my team is who should be panicking minus the tanking on purpose people of course.

I would pick the Hawks for this, as they have three players in their prime and are not playing well. However, I do think with their best player being only 21 they are going to be fine I think.
So I am going to pick the Magic. Nick has been pivoting on this build for several seasons, trying to build a winning team. His current build is similar to the Hawks, in that most of his players for his core are in their prime, or are still highly competitive players, and has Lynch/Flagg combo who are a younger group that he can still re-build around. However, due to the pivoting he has been doing up to this point, I don't know that he can as easily be fine with not competing this season as the Hawks would be. His cap situation is not desirable. He is in the second year of a repeater status and is approximately $70 million over the cap currently. That as of now would be a 37 point bill for a team that is currently looking at a under .500 record. This can all go away, potentially, if Nick sells off maybe one of his players, specifically one year contractual players Paolo or Sanford. Paolo's contract is one that may be next to impossible to move, given it is over $80 million. Nick may also like Sanford's too much to like any sort of return that he gets for the player. Nick also does not have his own pick next season, so he has to try to keep on the contending side for this season, so that he can hope to retain a high talent level going into next season.
So, coming up to day 60, Nick is not in a bad spot. This is very much early sim worries that may be for nothing. Nick does need to figure out his Gameplan soon though to get back on the right side of .500. His game has been too inconsistent, hanging at a -2.8 point diff currently. The silver lining of all of this may be that most of Nick's losses have been to either top end teams or on the road against teams with top end talent (@ the Mavs and Celtics, and against the Rockets, Pistons, Spurs, Wizards, and Pacers). So, hopefully he can run into a better luck of games against lower end teams to help figure out how to set up his team for success.
Good luck Nick!!!

I'll choose my own Raptors. This season has been off to a slow start I think because of the lack of a true PG and a weaker PF compared to the upper echelon teams. I think I'll need to hit the market for a PG and let Remy Martin slide down to his natural SG spot because asking him to handle the PG duties and lead the the team in scoring might be asking too much. I also think Frank Chavez has struggled a bit staying on the court because of his foul trouble and the reserves in the frontcourt are still a little raw so it has been tough. I think sliding Gradey Dick to the bench also has not worked out as well as I hoped so far. I think I have a few more adjustments to make to this lineup but I'm not losing hope yet.

I think the Nuggets might need to hit a panic button after two sims. Their record is a respectable 9-4, but their point diff is only 0.4, which tells a different story. I believe Jedi commented that they have the best offense and worst defense, but that bad of a defense may come back to bite very soon.
But this is all about context. The Nuggets are defending conference champions, sights set on returning to (if not surpassing) last season's glory. Instead, they have the most expensive roster in the league, a second year of luxury tax looming, and a winning margin that could dwindle toward a losing one very quickly if their defense isn't shored up in a very drastic way. Unfortunately, there are not a lot of moveable assets available to the Nuggets, so they might want to look at some lateral swap trading options, equal to equal value at different positions or trading offense for defense. Then again, with the best offense in the league, I wouldn't want to sacrifice that either...

The Bulls have many reasons to panic. With our only starter-quality C out for a couple sims, it'll show how little depth this team actually has, and there aren't a lot of routes out there to difference making depth that I can see. But at 8-4 with the best differential in the Omega after a couple sims and some mind-boggling road losses maybe due to perennially bad cohesion no matter what I do, I think things will come together.
So I'm going to pick the Spurs. With Alvarado out for 3 sims, an 8-6 record with a .4 differential, an expiring Pee Wee Kirkland, 122 points in the hole already with another tax bill left to come, the Spurs should be looking to make major changes. They haven't calculated all their points from last season, but just from taking a glance at what they usually net in a season, the point collecting pace will still leave them with a deficit if they don't cut a decent amount of salary (and ideally get out of the tax). Even if they do manage to net enough points to hold onto Pee Wee, they need to reset the tax or they'll find themselves in the same situation next season.

Mavs in full panic mode over here. I know the league is obsessed with purple bigs but as a man without a point guard let me tell you not having a true point guard, sucks. I thought Scoot could maybe run point but it doesn’t work with this squad. To many of the same players on this team. We are talented but it’s just not coming together.
We been on the look out and talked to more than a few teams with a point guard. We’ve been close to a deal but nothing concrete. So we are getting crazy this sim 3. Multiple trades are in the works. You know how I love a good splash. Cannonball!!!!

Let me dodge that falling building and atomic breath and write up the ways that Lakers should be panicking (even at the disco!).
While sim 1 was somewhat positive, sim 2 was a mess with a lousy 2-4 record. The team allows a ton of points, which is generally a kiss of death to any hopes of competing at a high level. Not having a player crack the top 25 scorers list is also a sign of the Simpocalypse. These last two issues are compounded by the fact that I do deploy some players who are quality defenders and scorers. So what's the issue? It's something I figured could be an issue, but was willing to toy with these lineups and put it to the test. I've built an incredibly awkward lineup. 4 big men and 2 PGs are fun in theory, but mean that at least 2 people are playing out of position, creating some possible poor mismatches. Hub is athletic enough to start at the 3 like he currently is, but his optimally efficient spot is PF or C and he can't take advantage fully right now because I need everyone to play. At PG, DJ and Funkhouser can both be 20-9 (or 20-10) players, but currently DJ is being forced to play a lot of SG and so his size can hurt him and he's being inefficient because of it.
My fixes are simple, but it all rests on finding the right trades. I can go either direction too. Try to continue to win now at a high level or trade for assets for an upcoming season. One of Funk or DJ should go, for either a SG or SF or a youthful package to turn later. Same with Hub and/or Kozak. Could even get super creative and crazy if I wanted to dangle Kinsella or TJD still as well, but it'd all take creativity.
Maybe ill start getting more aggressive

Utah Jazz
There is no reason a team in the tax should be missing the playoffs. If and when that happens the season is a failure. Currently, the Utah Jazz face this exact problem as they are a 1/2 game back from the Trailblazers for the 7th seed. I think the Jazz need to give the Hawks a shout, take their 5 presser points, and send them to the ATL along with Markus Conover and Larry Williams to shave off $19.5M from their tax bill. I'd also take a moment and update their depth chart to account for the recent Henry Caramelo injury since they now need to find a short-term replacement. I also would try to package contracts like Burt Morrison and Paul Barry and try to find a backcourt upgrade to join Sanders and Clauer. The Jazz have some interesting pieces both present and future but with some serious money locked into their Big 3 they need to tinker a bit more to get the most out of this lineup. The team overall is not in dire straits but they need their captain to steer the ship right now before this becomes a lost (and costly) season.

The reason I am going to panic is because I must be speaking the wrong language.
34 teams in this thread have said that they need PG help.
They're talking about serious searching and light talks about bringing in a true point guard to solve their most glaring weakness.
I staked my whole free agency on this fact, signed 3 serviceable true points.
The only person to send me an offer hasn't posted in this thread yet.
I'm looking for a serviceable prospect - not all-league, or a journeyman and some points.
I even proposed packages that include some of my prospects for star power in return, and haven't locked in anything.
I thought it made so much sense to make some deals, but the league just doesn't want these players.
If only they were 29 years old.

I would say my team has many reasons to panic but being that we expected this to be another bad season, I'd say we're actually right on track. So I'm gonna throw a curveball here and say the Rockets have reasons to panic.
Yes they are 12-5 with the third best win percentage, but they have one of the worst offenses in the league. Thankfully their defense is playing lights out but the moment teams find a crack in their defense, it could be game over. I'm not sure how many times teams made the playoffs with a bottom 5 offense but I can't imagine it's happened too many times. It's still early and they could turn that offense around but I would definitely be trying to find a way to give it a spark. 5 games scoring under 98 points this last sim? It's gonna be hard to sustain winning with so few points every game. Thankfully their current record gives them some breathing room but I would be looking to find some way to change the offense around in order to compete against teams that can score a lot of points

My team is in a little bit of a hole with Jose being out for a min. We will see how this upcoming sim go with lineup adjustments. A few position changes may be what the doctor order. Hopefully this upcoming sim is better than the last sim. Jose' really made a huge difference for this team.

Cavs
There is no question Isaac and Vassell are elite players. I thought I could lead the team with two powerhouses. Unfortunately, the league is very competitive. I need more studs. I thought this year I could fix the defense. I had a major disappointment on UFA. I lost most of my bids. I need an elite C and PF. I'm in panic mode because Isaac is 28 yrs old and I don't want his best years to go to waste. I think I still have two more great years with Isaac. It's very important I find immediate help and defense.

I always like to pick myself, I don't know enough about everyone else yet to really dive into what they should be doing.
A few things I panicked early on:
First and foremost is tax. I'm WAAAAY over and will end up owing over 100 points in tax, which to be able to afford that I will have to progress pretty far this year, similiar to last year. or just do a lot of bonus stuff, like bad memes. This unfortunately, also means that this will be my last competitive season for a while, as I will have to firesale some players for points and prospects in the offseason.
Secondly, I had a couple new contracts/players who haven't quite impressed yet.Gave most of my MLE to Charles Jarrett who was a B/B and got hit hard in TC, so that could've been a vet min that I couldve dropped and helped my tax situation. I also made a deal to bring over Chris Markham a B/B who I started in the lineup Sim 1 but didn't quite measure up to what I wanted in that position, so I went back to benching him and starting my G/G in LIndsey.

I'm going to pick myself because 3 losses is UNACCEPTABLE. I don't know exactly where things need to change, but I've (for the first time in seasons) begun reaching out to other teams for trade ideas. Whether it's to move a certain player or two to bring in a slight downgrade in exchange for tax relief or divvying up salary from one big salary into 2 smaller salaries, I've been looking into it all. I'm anticipating a few more Ls this sim, with 4 road games. So my mental preparation for falling skies has begun. So anyone actually reading this... I MIGHT BE DESPERATE... CUM GET SUM. @LazyTitanSmash I know you hunting for a shake up... hmu boo
