Another year, another existential crisis of what am I doing with my sim life...

Image

Call me the great Wallenda of PBSL. I have always been teetering on a tightrope between different builds. Constantly trying to decide how to move forward. Do I lean more to he left and build around the young players I have? Do I edge towards the right and go on a full buy in with my older players? It is the great question that I am always contemplating.

My current dilemma is a quite perplexing one, much in this same regard. I had a build that was centered around Antoino Gates, Ebbe "Isadore" Clauer, Daniel Johnson among others. I felt pretty good about it, where I thought that my younger players, like Lew, could be complimentary to this core, then turn into the next core's center piece. However the build was making me contemplate - if not now, when? Well, I realized that it was never after the first sim of last season. So instead of waiting for Promises, Promises of a build that would top out at conference finals contenders maybe? I decided to pivot. I moved on from DJ and Cruce in the season, with Clauer in the offseason. I got back a solid PG option with Douglas to hold me over and two younger players in Dyson and Booger Smith. To be completely honest, once I saw Gary was making moves to be a winner now, I thought for sure I would have been in the company of wolves for the services of Booger Smith. However, we were able to get Booger "Switchblade" Smith's services for a still very good Clauer, and I hope Clauer and Gary have all sorts of conversations about the fatherland.

Dyson and Smith being added to the grouping of Lew and maybe Brittney Griner, who are all Adolescents in nature, had me thinking that Antonio Gates would be Tomorrow's food for a contender to come get. The Original deal I had in place, from the previous season fell apart. I think mostly because of the RFA restrictions that I think should be looked at heavily. I do not blame the GM at all, as his situation changed since we initially talked and I hope he does well with his plan. I think AG is now in a phase where some people may be afraid to trade for due to the 30 year old scare. To that I will say - to the Defiance of this idea, Nate wrote a article of the year contender on the topic. Showing that players that are close to or over 30 are not terrible players, and can still be very important players to a team. I think Gates is a great example of this, where his abilities will age well. He will be a top end PF for the next four to five years I think. With that being said, to all my friends and lovers out there, Gates is still very much available. I have had some talks with GMs, but am still not solid on any plans to move him, if I even decide to. I very well may keep him as he could be a good complimentary player to this core moving forward. So keep that in mind, if you are one of the thieves thinking they can steal Gates at a discount rate, it is not going to happen.

To close this presser out, I am content with where I am at in the flip of this roster, and think there is some interesting choices I need to make in the next 72hrs, and in the next few seasons. I am not really tied to any players, other then really liking Lew and Booger currently. With that all being said, I am now going to open the floor to you all to ask questions. Please know that I will not answer many questions on Gates, due to the fact that I have ongoing trade talks that I feel would cause collusion and I do not want to get fined.

Starting 5:
Douglas
Lew
Booger
AG
Griner

First, I commend you on making the decision in the middle of the season to “blow up” your team and start the rebuild even though you were first in your division at the time. Then you went on to win a playoff series. Can you comment on what that was like? What do you think led to your team playing better even after you seemed to have given up on the season? What do you see yourself taking away from last season and bringing into this season to possibly make another run?

When making trade offers, how much dick teasing is too much dick teasing?

So part of why the team still played so well, is also why I blew it up. The division was not that good. When I was not clearly ahead of the pack in the division after a few sims, that is when I knew it was time to pivot, as this team was probably at the height of how good it was going to be. My cohesion was also pretty solid through the season, where I moved on from Cruce early enough to where I could still build up the cohesion before the playoffs started. Also, my team still had really good players on it with Clauer, Griner, and Gates. I knew I would give anyone fits. Thankfully the Cavs GM relied too much on his two stars, where my approach was built more around the team as a whole. I think the biggest takeaway I took from last season to this is the personnel. I retained most of the core players I had from last season. The exceptions being Clauer, moved for Booger, and Warley who was a preliminary cost control move.

Thanks for reading the presser all the way through. To answer this though, I truly don't know.

I ain't reading all that. Sorry that happened, or congrats.

Anyway, how did it feel to get kicked out of the playoffs by a new owner that you are mentoring? Is there some pride in there that you coached him well, or did you take it personally?

It was fine. I felt that while I did not win, I did show them a valuable lesson in how to gameplan against opponents. The Nuggets GM would say their roster was far superior, but I still managed to take him to the edge and almost win the series myself due to using my experience to gameplan against his team's vulnerabilities.

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: What do you think the younger GMs in the league could learn from your series with the Cavs where the 7th seed Celtics upset the division leaders? Talk a bit on how you outmaneuvered them.

The first thing I did was remind myself I was facing off against the Cavs, and a GM that has never gotten that far in this game. That boosted my confidence for sure. But seriously, even though they took the division, I knew I had a shot against them because I knew their team was largely built on two players and that this was just a matchup against us, so I could gameplan as such (instead of for a full array of teams).

I went and looked at two things
1. The matchups that I had against the Cavs this year
2. The Cavs team page to see what they were good and bad at through the season.

1. The matchups will tell me how I did against them during the season. What players played well, did I rebound more then him, how did my key players do against their key players, and did I do things against him that I should look to implement, etc...
2. I focused on my bigs on the inside adding Griner to my key players because she played well against the Cavs in the regular season. I also upped my rebounding to try to get the ball more often. Then I also slowed down my pace and motion to zero each because I wanted to take away the Cavs ability to get Vassel and Issac the ball as much as possible.

That was what I can recall from what I did to try to exploit the cavs weaknesses and I hope that is actually intelligent in nature and equally helpful for someone (not the CAVS)

Matthew Berry, actor from hit TV show Enemies: Hello and thank you for taking my question. One of the biggest questions entering this season was whether or not Dyson "Chicken Nugget" Daniels was too soft to play in the league. After recovering from the broken fibula he suffered during draft workouts, what is the likelihood that he'll recover from this embarrassing incident and prove the critics wrong?

Only time will tell. As we are unsure of his the fused fibula's ability at this time. He does walk with a limp similar to Chris Paul so that has to be good right?

Justin Bieber, Teremana.com: Antonio Gates is no longer purple. Do you expect the Celtics to make deep run in the playoffs?

I fully expect to beat the Cavs, if they make the playoffs, in the playoffs again.
