S70 Warriors Presser: Insurance FTW

Hey fans of Golden State. Last year sucked, I know. It got us a nice lotto pick, but he sucks, too, even though I gave him an AWESOME NSFW name. You want ass? I give you Chris Porn punk ass.

Nah we got some good things to talk about (tax sitch is not one of them). Kevin Cross’s TC wasn’t one of them (thank god for insurance), but Nick Claxton’s (again, thank god for insurance) and Breanna Stewart’s were! Honestly we saw more growth and development from Delmer Bricker than we were expecting, too. I think that guy may have flown under a number of GM’s radars, but unfortunately he’s going to have such a great season for us that he’s going to generate insane max offers in the offseason. Dammit, I hope he stays in the Bay.

K-100 tried to poison pill us with that max contract on Breanna Stewart, but she has taken that money and run with it to the bank and quite possibly the all star game. Breanna has been a sleeper star in Golden State for several seasons now, putting up decent numbers even as a y/b rookie contract player. Now she will actually be playing up to the price of that max contract, and the rest of the league is on notice against Breanna. She will Frye you up.

The true anomaly of our squad, and our difference maker, is Nick Claxton. He hasn’t historically shown up on the stat sheets as one of our best, but he will this year. Thanks to insurance, he still has tons of room to grow, too. We expect Nick to be a top 5 rebounder this year, and a top 5 shot blocker. Because Breanna has handled most of the scoring duties, we don’t expect him to excel in that category, but he will be a force to be reckoned with at C.

All these things together, we’re looking at our first competitive season since our title run several sim moons ago. Other teams have emerged, achieved greatness, and watched us wash out…but we’re back! We’re not title ready, but we are playoff ready as long as we stay healthy.

Any questions?

So you playing on sending out some of that young talent for Ware? Your a real contender or do you like that you have multiple chances at a title run if you keep you young players.

Also Bricker is bad ass, Scoot for Bricker they are also the same age, and my guys under contract for 5 years!

The RFA situation was fascinating to me.
Did you think about letting either prospect go because the contract is inflated?

Also, what did you expect from a guy named Chris Porn?
Fu(!< Boi if I ever heard of one.

First question - troll question. Next…

Second question - trolling as well.

Kelel ware is one of the greatest centers this league has ever seen. We don’t have the pieces to build around him. So stop with the dumbass questions.

You made your worthless scoot bed, now roll in it

I definitely considered passing on Breanna because k100 was trolling with that bid and not interested in negotiating Frye all, but I’m glad I didn’t. She’s far from her prime and costs more than she’s worth this year, but her development over time will justify today’s high price tag. Same for Nick, though I expected Nick to be maxed.

I expected Chris porn to not lose his potentials and get me some points in a trade. He was slated to develop into a decent role player but oh well.

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: Your starting 5 looks pretty obvious to me. What's your second unit going to look like?

We have too many big guys, but one of them has had pretty decent production. We will have Joseph Morelock leading the way as 6th man, Hal Dorris on the wing and Gary Millard at PG. Morelock is our key bench piece, but we may reduce / change his role to get minutes for Waldman or Dendy, too. For now, Morelock will play the bulk of our bench minutes.

Random Reporter: Does bringing in Delmer Bricker signal a return to competitiveness for Golden State? Do you foresee having to move anyone for more depth?

Well, honestly, we're at the mercy of this build and its trajectory. All of our assets we could have traded for upgrades are spent, so if we went for depth it would cost us a starter. We may be living on the margins for a couple of seasons if this team does not grow into a contender; however, it was the team we worked hard to build, and now that all these players are rich, we'll see just how far they can take us.
