2002-03 Hall of Fame Nominations

Welcome to the call for nominees to the People’s Basketball Sim League Hall of Fame. The rules are simple. Nominate a player you think deserves to be mentioned among the greatest players to play in this league. Championships, all-star appearances, funny picture blogs: all of these things could mean enough to warrant a nomination. Each GM is allowed 1 (ONE) nomination. There’s only one requirement: the player has to be retired from the PBSL. There is no time restriction on retirement – as soon as a player retires, they are eligible for the HOF.
So what’s to stop you from just sending Slava Medvedenko to the Hall of Fame because you like his name? Well, first of all, he’s not retired yet, so you’re clearly not paying attention. But what else is going to stop you? I am.
I will review the nominations and put out a ballot of those we think qualify to be elected to the Hall. And then you vote on those players to see if they get enshrined.
-Nominees on the ballot with over 75% yes votes get into the HOF
-Nominees on the ballot with over 50% yes votes (but under 75%) are automatically considered for next year's ballot ("free" nomination that doesn't cost any owner a yearly nomination).
Nominations open now and will stay open until the end of the regular season. The ballot will be released after the first round of the playoffs. Reply to this post with your nomination.
Below are the most recent retirees who are available for nomination.
6/17/2002 Magic PG Randy Brown retires

I renominate Reggie Miller as well.
His last nomination speech:

Before we break down his stats, let's do a brisk synopsis of his career. Reggie Miller was the tank commander of the 1990-91 Detroit Pistons. He was the man that would lead them to comrade-in-arms: Steve Smith. Reggie loved Detroit and will always be known for the following 4 years where Detroit Basketball was in its prime. While in Detroit, he lived his Golden Years, until the Pistons GM stabbed him in the back and shipped him out to the Orlando Magic in the summer of 1995 (<3 you Tray haha). From this point forward (not that kind of point forward, TRELL), Reggie became a nomad and a vagabond, being traded 6 times in 5 seasons (ironically starting with being traded to the Magic and ending with being traded to the Magic). In his last season, he was signed and cut by the Warriors before finishing his career with the Spurs. Long story short, his career started with 5 stable years and ended with 6 years of investing in Budget Truck Rental.
But let's look at those numbers and accollades:
~7 All-Star Appearances
~2 All-League First Team
~3 All-League Second Team
~Lead the Pistons and Mavericks to numerous conference finals appearances
~Averaged a career shooting percentage of: 49.2% FG, 89.% FT, 39.8% 3P (TENTHS of percentage points away from a 50-90-40 CAREER average)
~Missed 6 games through the first SEVEN years in PBSL
~Averaged 25.3PPG over his first EIGHT seasons (until the dreaded 31 year old mark), shooting just over 50% from FG and 41% from 3-Pt Range
~Over the same time, his Assists and Rebounds also hovered around 3-4/game
All-in-all, Reggie Miller did everything in his power to play some of the best basketball (from a shooter's perspective) over the course of his career while willing every team he played on through his prime to the post-season. He never got his ring unfortunately (although had he stayed on the Warriors, he would've seen his first Finals appearance), but Reggie Miller as a player made a niche for himself in this league and showed that he had what it took to be recognized for his prowess during his career. Now it is time to show him the respected deserved after his career and get this former Detroit Piston in the Hall of Fame #CentralPride
Also OP

I think Quail not reading the OP should be grounds for no re-nomination

I will happily nominate Patrick Ewing.
4 Time All-Star
2 Time All-NBA Third Team
Im going to highlight his first 5 years where he was relatively dominant. He started the league at age 28 and was a focal point to the early success of the Indiana Pacers franchise making the All-Star team in all 4 seasons with the club. Then moving on with Dallas helping lead them to the Finals where they took Zo and the Celtics to 7 games before losing.
His stats from 1990-1994:
Regular Season- 23 PPG, 8 RPG, 2.6 BPG, .495% FG, his first 4 years boasted a PER of 25 or higher.
Averaged 24 PPG in the playoffs.
When looking upon the history of the league he has to be viewed as one of the best big men the league has ever had when he was in his prime. The new generation will remember his as the old guy who played until he was 39 but the historians will know how truly dominant he was down low. Is he a first-ballot guy? Probably not. But he should definitely garner enough votes for an automatic nomination next year

I believe Charles Barkley retired. If so, I'll save this to write his nomination. I'm gonna assume Darth will write the nomination for Stockton. If no one else does it before I get to it, I'll write the nomination for Clyde Drexler.

THE CASE FOR: Charles Barkley
Accomplishments:
Player of the Game: 199
Player of the Week: 24
Player of the Month: 5
All-Star Appearances: 4
All-League First Team: 2
All-League Second Team: 1
All-League Third Team: 1
All-Defensive Second Team: 1
A lot of you are new and have no remembrance of a good Charles Barkley. Even for those who have been in the league since the start, many would probably look at Charles Barkley's name and assume he's not a Hall of Famer. He's never even made a Finals appearance and he only made it out of the first round twice. However, his stats at the beginning of the league tell a different story. For the first 2 seasons, he was a top 5 player in the league. I should know as he beat out Shawn Kemp for All NBA First Team forward the first 2 seasons. He averaged 35-10 the first season and followed that up with 39-11 the second season. Those would be MVP numbers in present sim league terms. The next season, he had a "down" year, averaging 29-11. He remained a very productive starter for 7 sim league seasons, with his lowest PER coming in at 21.6. During his reign of terror during his first 2 seasons, he posted insane PERs of 38 and 38.6. Shawn Kemp has had just 3 seasons with a PER higher than 38.6. Charles was a top 15 player for the first 4 years of his career. Combine that with being one of the most dominant players in sim league history during his 2 year prime, and that should warrant his Hall of Fame induction. He lacks a championship, but his individual performance alone should be enough for his induction. If Charles Barkley can't make the Hall of Fame averaging 39-11 for a season, we might as well make winning a championship a requirement.

THE CASE FOR: Clyde Drexler
Accomplishments:
Player of the Game: 94
Player of the Week: 3
All-Star Appearances: 2
All-League Second Team: 1
All-League Third Team: 1
All-Defensive First Team: 1
All-Defensive Second Team: 1
Championships: 1
The #6 pick in the creation draft, Clyde led the Wolves for the first 2 years, including one playoff appearance before being traded to the Celtics to help the beginning of their reign of terror over the Eastern Conference. During his first 2 seasons with the Wolves, Drexler was a clear cut superstar, averaging 25-6-6 and making the All NBA Defensive teams both years. He was a top 10-15 player each of his first 2 seasons. When he was traded to the Celtics, he helped make for his team accomplishments, reaching the Finals the first year then winning the second year as a key player. Drexler displayed his longevity, remaining a key member of teams for the next 6 seasons before retiring a Wizard.

Sorry I never commented on this, Ben. Each GM is allowed one nom. I'll take Barkley as yours and we can do Drexler next year.

I'll give a full post when I return from vacation, but I just wanted to congratulate Karl Malone, Charles Barkley, and Reggie Miller on being inducted to the PBSL Hall of Fame!
