Welcome again to another San Antonio Spurs Preseason presser. Thank you to everyone that has joined us today to talk about the team. Last season was a good year for us may have been better if it was for the slow start. That start basically kept us from getting a bye in the 1st round of the playoffs. We eventually got knock out of the 2nd round by a really talented Mavs team. We didn't reach our goal of a championship but that's the way the cookie crumbles sometimes. Maybe we'll get lucky this season. Just like last season, this season We are monitoring our tax situation. Gregory Kozak who I liked a lot was a cap casualty. We did get value for him this off season via trade with the Lakers. This season our goal is to win and try to paid the upcoming tax. I am happy with this year's TC results. While there were some guys that got hit the core players had good results. Peewee is also trying to build from his MVP season to become better. Hopefully with the current roster we can be competitive. We will need to figure out the center position tho. Hopefully one of these guys can step up to fill Kozak's shoes. Still optimistic about making a deep playoff run. If this presser sounds boring I understand but doing 70 of these and keeping it entertaining is challenging.

If anyone have questions feel free to ask and I will answer to best of my ability.

Do you feel confident you will be able to pay off your tax bill this season to avoid losing Pee Wee for nothing next offseason? Or do you think a blockbuster trade is looming?

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: I didn't have to do 70 of these to tell you it's hard to keep ideas fresh for a long presser...both reading or writing. As a team with lingering tax obligations and as a GM who's seen it all in this league, what thoughts do you have about what works and what needs to change in the sim points economy?

I am optimistic. We will try to do everything possible to pay off the tax. If I am in a position where we have to move on from Peewee I hope it would be a blockbuster. I have a few guys I can deal aside from Peewee to lower my tax payment but if I feel we are getting lowballed during talks because of my situation. Peewee will be traded to the Pistons for Dawes.

Currently I think the point system is good. There are plenty of ways to earn points may not be enough at times but it's still good as far as competitive advantages. I don't like that I have to pay this tax but that comes with going all in. It's the risk you take. My problem is that I am just lazy when it comes to earning media points. I think if I was proactive years prior I would have had the funds to pay off my bill. It's all about be responsible I guess. I hope I answered your question, cause I feel like I was rambling lol.

If I think of something that may need to be tweaked I'll put it in the atmosphere.

My sources within ... certain organizations ... tell me that there was at least some "toe dipping" from outside teams in the PeeWee Kirkland waters. Why did those curiosities never go any further? Were the offers not up to snuff or are you still just not mentally ready to explore moving on from him?

Desert here,

Given that you owe last season's tax and are on pace to have a tax this season as well. You traded reed to avoid losing him to rfa. Are you willing to let pee wee walk for free? Or are you confident you'll get your luxury tax paid off and pee wee resigned?

All these questions are about the tax but I'd want to know as a veteran gm of the Spurs, what are you thoughts on the recent realignment that the league has just gone through?

Do you plan to play Henry Widener this season?

My goal is to not move Peewee but if I am forced to because of my tax situation he will be a Piston unless I get something in return I can't deny and with the way things have been as of late I don't see that happening. So why not just send him to a buddy for a hometown discount and team him back up with hoyt. I will also listen to offers. I have to take a look at some DMs from over the weekend i did not really read. I tend to not do SLOE things over the weekend lol.

We'll see that is to be determined. I will try avoid having to move Peewee. I think I have a shot but we will see what happens as day 60 approaches.

I think the realignment isn't bad tbh. Seems like a mix of playoff and lotto teams in each division. I think the other options that were floating around would have not been good.

I think he has the potential to get minutes. With Kozak departure leaving a hole in that area we may have to take the committee approach, meaning he will eventually get minutes at some point.

Chet Youbetcha, Dimmadome News: Instead of asking you the same questions about your team, I wanted to go in a different direction. You have always done really well of building long term builds with you twelve years a spur motto. Do you have any reccomendations you could share with the Pelicans who are currently deep in their own rebuild trying to create the next master class dynasty? @BigDaddyd8720

I would say be patient. Players take time to grow and I know that could get boring at times cause of the wait. But once they reach their potential, you would reap the benefits. Sometimes the best move is not to make a move at all. Figure out you team's Identity and go from there. I have been a patient GM for most of my time here in the league. There were a few times where I rushed. I benefited once and this 2nd time around I am where I am at currently. Being patient doesn't mean not to make any moves but make the right one or make a move to set up another. Sometimes people make moves just for the sake of doing it or are pressured into making it. Those moves sometimes set you build/franchise back. Make sure to have a plan. I hope this helps. @BigDaddyd8720
