Rules: 1 point if you give thoughtful answers which I will award after the timer ends for responses. The timer ends for responses at the moment the corresponding week's Sim is run.
Note: Use approximately 5 sentences as your bare minimum for 1 point. If you write 3 long, complex sentences, you'll still get a point. If you write 5 3 word sentences, you will not get a point. Don't @ me.
Due: Sim 11 deadline.
If you could add anything to the PBSL forum to spice it up, as like a semi-regular thing, what would it be?

This question feels weird because it doesn't create a natural dialogue based on a fair ability to answer a question. This reminds me of a survey question at the end of a hotel stay or after the cruise I just left. "is there any feedback you would like to give". But if there's nothing that you want added or contributed then how do you answer this question? Luckily my cruise gave N/A as an option. Because I don't want anything added to spice up the forum. I think there's enough and probably too much as is. Things could be titled differently but not sure that's possible with historic data. I don't like this question at all. And if given to me in a hotel or any other product survey where I don't have any input. I would leave it blank. But since I need the point this is my response.

Agree with black Superman. There really isn’t anything I can think of to add l, especially it being my first season. I already think there’s a lot going on so adding anything would probably cause more confusion for me. Maybe I can come back after a couple of seasons and think of something

I have had a long running idea (that I am yet to follow through with) about a forum piece called - "Who Would You Rather?"
The idea is to compare two players that I think have similar value from around the league, and let people offer reasons to take one player over the other. i.e. Wemby or Uncle Phil?
I would introduce with my own neutral analysis, and then people can state other factors that I might not mention and their preference of player.
I came up with this idea after having some trade negotiations where other GM's had reasons for valuing players that I thought were worthless, and vice versa.
Eye of the beholder type shit.

I am thinking of two things that could be added that would spice up the league, where one is probably feasible and the other is not.
The less feasible is the addition of a ESPN of sorts. I know it’s been brought up a few times, but I think it would be really interesting. Adding a level of storylines to add to PBSL I think would allow some people to enjoy the game in a new way. People such as JNR, Roberto, Nick, and Josh who have previously done the wrestling league where they write promos, could find a new outlet to enjoy if they are finding less enjoyment in the Gameplan aspects. They can do things like sports center, and write recaps about games or articles on players. You could also incorporate interviews or co-authored articles with other people. This is ultimately less feasible because I know people have talked about it for years, and I don’t think anyone would ever have the appetite to routinely churn out new articles.
The other is more use by “sources” which could provide the same time of entertainment but on a smaller scale.

I feel like we should add a Big Brother/Survivor element side game to the forum where we get to vote off GMs from the league during the season (not actually in the PBSL context, but a separate one). Not everyone needs to participate, but this would be like a e-fed wrestling type role-playing thing. Once a season, you pick a character (player, coach, GM, IRL persona) you want to represent and we drop you in a random place. And with each sim, we vote someone off... all aiming for the final sim of the reg season (or maybe playoffs?). I did this once before on a forum a LONG time ago (like 14 years ago lol) and it was pretty fun. But we'd need someone to be the "Jeff Probst" persona and moderate (could be a rotating thing or even a sim responsibility). And there would be challenges that we incorporate like pick ems (but not all real pick ems). Winner gets 1 million sim points.

3 ideas
My first two are about bring back the spirit of Iamquailman:
#1 - The Iamquailman trades were the most fun to talk about or talk shit about, but it kept things spicy.
#2 - Everyone use: Hoopshype
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=17&p=109462&hilit=sources#p109462
I suspect Iamquailman uses it from time to time but this one could be fun for everyone. I hope it could be used to start some rivalries and get people fired up.
#3 - Gambling points on playoff series or individual games - pick'em is close to this but, I'd like to see more game bets or prop bets, and you'd have to put up points to win. I actually wrote up a draft email to the commissioner (Mamba at the time) but that we had a commissioner change over and I didn't want to complicate things, so I never sent it.

I really enjoy playing Sim Vegas but I wish we had some kind of betting system on the games. If someone could devise betting lines and/or spreads and we could wager our bank points to create another a fun way to try and earn more points. I think it could also be another way to land in tax jail if you take a loan for points and end up in the hole against the house. I think enforcing this would be hard and you would need to stay on top of it to prevent someone from trying to game the system but it would be interesting.

The non-exciting answer for you all is probably a better, cleaner, more comprehensive, updated set of rules. A lot of them are outdated, and they're all over the place, but it'd be such a time consuming pain in the butt to get everything together that the rules will probably change before an overhaul can be completed. Generally, I think that some kind of betting system might create less parity because savvier GMs could use it as another avenue to get over on new GMs, but I think the last thing the league needs is more opportunities for cheap points that get created out of nowhere.
Other things I think could use enhancement are trade blocks and points systems. Everybody does them a little differently and in their own silo, but if there was a more convenient, cohesive way to organize these to maximize the effectiveness of both, that would be cool. Don't ask me what that way is yet.

If we implement Big Brother / Survivor, I would be a dictatorial Jeff Probst and eliminate
@BigDaddyd8720 and
@Black Superman for being wet blankets.
Handing out points like candy and mfers wanna complain sheesh
I do think that some of these ideas breathe interesting and creative life into the league. I'm surprised to hear an emphasis on gambling, honestly, when the first thing anyone asks me about sim league is 'how do you make money off it?' and they look at me like I'm crazy when I say 'I don't. It's just for fun.'
I think this newer generation of GMs may be a bit less data-driven and stats focused than the original / previous generation. There isn't much analysis like
How to Train a Player 1 and
2, or anyone who could take over the TC spreadsheet garbageman does (correct me if I'm wrong), because of his knowledge of SQL. These guys had unique skill sets they brought to the game that enhanced it in a technical way, but I think more creatives have come on board and there's more focus on that now. I certainly glommed on to the creative side of things, despite my interest in numbers / stats / currents / potentials / player trainings /etc. I have interest but not applied skill like I've seen in the aforementioned examples.
But I do think that if there were some hard hitting data analytics coming out more often, it would be great for everyone. Kinda like the power rankings. There was a totally different methodology back in the day that involved a data analytics tool The Syndicate used for work, and it was pretty neat to hear how he calculated it, but I am also glad to see Charlie continue them his own way.
In as much as I expected some fresh interesting ideas here from newer GMs, I thought I might hear some things from older GMs that were lost with time. Like the 5 on 5 I restarted after a 10 season absence.
Anyway, all things equal, I'm with
@LazyTitanSmash . We should all be writing in hoopshype like every day.

I'm writing something that'll never happen but I need my point, so suck it up. A Sim League fantasy league option for folks to compete and bet against each other. Get interested GMs, put points in to play, draft sim players onto your team, then they play against each other to determine an eventual champion. It'd be such a difficult undertaking due to having to have someone create full scoring rules, track each drafted player's progress, track results, etc. However, if I ever had the energy to do it, I think it could be fun and maybe spice things up for a short while, like Town Halls have/did.

Nice job
@K-100 on sim 11 that's what I was looking for as far a gambling goes. (But maybe you have to put up a point, and the total put in goes to the winner or top 3 or something like that)

I think we should add a in season tournament using the G-league portion if that still exist. Have teams draft players from the G-league file and have a best out of 3 in early rounds and best out of 5 in the championship round. Winner get a choice of 5 points, 1 added free TC insurance, that has to be use the following TC or a 1 point current training increase to any non purp player on their roster. Runner up gets to choose from the remaining options. I know this won't happen because it will take time to coordinate or just flat out impossible but if it would happen, whomever coordinates it should get 10 points but will be ineligible to participate. I know it sounds stupid but it's something I came up with cause I need 1 point to answer the town hall lol.
