Rules: 1 point if you give thoughtful answers which I will award after the timer ends for responses. The timer ends for responses at the moment the corresponding week's Sim is run.
Note: Use approximately 5 sentences as your bare minimum for 1 point. If you write 3 long, complex sentences, you'll still get a point. If you write 5 3 word sentences, you will not get a point. Don't @ me.
Due: Sim 6 deadline.
Now that we have a decent sample size, which player of any week would be the best addition to your team, and why? What would you be willing to give up for them?

I'm taking Phil Smith, but I really don't have anything to give for him. I did try to offer a package similar to the one I used to get Jarrett and Ingram, and I would've thrown in a 1st, but I don't think that was enough firepower. I definitely don't have enough firepower now. The best I could/would probably do would be David Brown, Blakeney, 10 points, and a 1st, and I don't think that would move the needle for the Hawks, who are now maybe competing?
But long story short, I've got a lot of nice backcourt pieces (when they're healthy) with McClung and Remy. Once they're both back in action, I can put Ingram at PF where I want to play him and move Alleman to the bench, but for now Ingram has to play wing minutes. If I had Phil Smith, I think him, McClung, and Remy would be a force to be reckoned with, and I could figure it out anywhere else.

Xue turns me into a playoff team THIS season. It would be tough to get him because what am I truly willing to give up? I'd be okay with losing 1 of Maxwell Lewis or Herman Cambell. Preferably Maxwell. Run Xue at the 2/3 with Herman and Ross. Gives me 3 quality starters with 2 superstars. We're not a contender under this trade BUT we're set up for Xue Ross An improved Herman, maybe a playable Trayce and a mid tier paid star in Free agency next year. Add some mins and we're a threat to anyone next year. Fast forward another year. With even more growth by Trayce/ Cambell and oh baby crown me. This would all be dependent on the type of contract I can bring in for that 60M ish range next season with cap space. Damn now I'm interested lol.

You know what's funny - Sion James, November's Player of the Month and not unlikely MVP, has NOT been named player of the week. That was my pick. Easy. Dang.
Considering I'm the last in the league and don't actually have an incentive to get better this year, I'll go with a player I've always liked from a distance, and would probably trade more than he's worth to get him:
Charley Quick.
Miraculously not a hilarious rename for a starting caliber Center with 30 QKN (kinda quick for a legit 7 ft center, sure), Charley Quick is an elite big man whose primary flaw is not blocking. He doesn't have a foul problem reducing his playing time, and his JMP is high enough to get him to the foul line, where he's not a total failure, for approximately six shots per game. Just, an awesome two-way player with great athleticism. He probably will never be fully purple - centers usually don't - but if he did? He would be an MVP caliber Center, a rarity for sure.

Out the gate I gotta say that Uncle Phil is a <expletive deleted> Hall of Famer!!
What a career of demo after demo.
That guy has been dominant individually.
But for this question my answer would really be, who would I like to build around starting today?
And that would be Funkhouser.
I don't recall anybody in recent history winning the ship with a point who was absolutely trash.
From what I can tell it's the most important ingredient to winning it all.
I do get excited about Ross Finch, but serviceable big men seem easier to acquire, unless their name is Uncle Phil.
He different!

Victor Wembanyama.
I probably could have made a run at him this season honestly, but I never did. While I do have a roster with Thomas Walker, Fabian Hub, Safi, and Ransdell running the front court minutes, which is a really nice group, Wemby kind of just merges all of their big man abilities into one uber-Big. I don't have anything to deal for him now honestly, except One of my core guys, but man, if I still had some way to transition Thomas Walker, points, and an asset or 2 for him? I'd be all the way in.

Safi Fino-A-Laself
I always like versatile players who can play any spot on the court. Safi is the quintessential Swiss-army knife. I've enjoyed watching Mamba deploy Safi all over the place depending on his team build, and his dominance over the past decade is a testament to how much value he brings to the team. I don't really ever trade with Mamba for whatever reason so I figure it will take some coaxing to get him to deal Safi so I'd offer Tennessee Rainwater straight up and see where it leads us.

Jose Alvarado
I miss having a great point guard. Jose Alvarado is a such an interesting player and an even greater mystery to me. His resume is filled with accolades but he always seems to fly under the radar every season. We are not even at the All-Star Break yet and he already has 8 games with 15+ assists, including an absurd 24 assist game against Dallas. Alvarado is a true stud and I'd love to have him be the facilitator on my team. I would offer my upcoming lottery pick and Kamari Brown in a trade.

Kevon Looney
The Cavs need a dominate center. Chief K is getting old and currently on a major decline. There is no question this will be Chief K last season where he will be solid. If I want to make a deep run into the playoffs, I need a C who can play more than 30 minutes per game. Looney is the player I need. Not only is Looney a monster on rebounds, but he's also an elite blocker. With Looney elite defensive attributes and Isaac freak athleticism, I can see the Cavs be a major problem for the Lakers and Rockets.

Dennis Funkhouser. It really doesn't do me any good to acquire one of the more established talents, because I'm actively trying to be bad. In addition to that, there's no guarantee that I'd be able to trade them again. Funkhouser may make it tougher to tank, but he's exactly the type of talent that I'm tanking for. At 24, I'd basically be acquiring my franchise player, and his upcoming RFA all but guarantees that I'll retain him.
As for a hypothetical offer, I don't think I have a legitimately compelling one. I would love to legitimately improve his team by sending over Kessler, but the salaries just don't work. I'm thinking some combo of Shinn/Rivera/Castaneda/Trantham/my 1st/Currin. It'll hurt to give up multiple players I've already invested in, and Shinn's the only one who actually helps the Bobcats now, but that's all I've got for a prospect of his caliber.

Gimme Charlie Quick. He is a athletic big who can score an play defense. An 7 foot guy that can jump out the gym. I would love to have him as an addition on the spurs squad. He's averaging 24 points and 10 boards and he's just 26 getting ready to enter prime. He's going to be on a Phil Smith level and a force that can't be contained. Blazers got themselves a stud. I can't wait to see how the next 4 years play out for Quick.

My worst position is my PF. I am currently playing a rookie in Lindsey who has been pretty solid, mostly getting a lot of rebounds I wasn't getting with my other options. The first and obvious choice would be Johnathan Isaac, I mean who doesn't want to add 38 PPG to their roster.
A more realistic option would be Ross Finch or Safi Fino, but they both seem to be on max contracts and IDK if they truly deserve to be. Again still new and figuring out value of players.
