#SLOE: People's Basketball Sim League

Rules: 1 point if you give thoughtful answers which I will award after the timer ends for responses. The timer ends for responses at the moment the corresponding week's Sim is run.

Due: Wed Dec 20th at 4pm Sim 10 deadline.

Question: I want to play a game...Your life on the line. Are you trusting the Pacers to finish first or the Raptors to sneak into the 7th seed and catch the cavs? Which of these teams are you trusting with your life and why?

I’m trusting the Cavs imploding. Let’s go with the Raptors. Easy money and I’ll go home to my pets that day.

Raptors and it’s not even close. They’re basically tied right now and the Pacers have to try to pass the Lakers. I don’t see that happening at all so Raptors all the way.

I am trusting the Raptors to make it pass the Cavs more than the Pacers passing the healthy Lakers.

Raptors

The Raptors road woes concern me, but they only have to chase 1 team whereas the Pacers have to stave off both Chicago and Los Angeles with Denver and Milwaukee also in their peripherals. Plus rooting against @jlmarines is my drug.

I'll say the Raptors, if for no other reason than schedule. The Pacers play 12 of their remaining 18 games against current playoff teams or the Raptors who are good enough to be one with 8 road games. For comparison, my Lakers only play 5 road games the rest of the way and only a handful Total games against legit competition.

I’m going with raptors. I think the bulls will catch the pacers more than think the cavs will hold off the raptors.

I'm going to say the pacers. If for no other reason but to save face on my question(a great node to a horror GOAT) and provide any answer thats not the raptors. The pacers have done the unthinkable thus far. Who would have picked them to be tied for first with 3 sims and roughly 18 games remaining. They've only lost 4 games since the start of February. Herb is going to lead them to the promised lands. Escape their trap and keep me from dying.

I'm going to say the Raptors. There are too many teams competing for that #1 spot and it could literally be any one of us. With the Raptors, they're just competing with the Cavs for that 7th spot, and the Raptors roster construction is simply too good to not make the playoffs. The Cavs have Isaac who is a beast, and though Chief K is playing well, there's only Karlo Pearson being well past his heyday, Devin Vassell who isn' there yet, no real PG, and now Chris Bow...who, while I thought it was a great trade for the Cavs and also great to see the Cavs get outside their clique, doesn't put them over the Raptors for me.

Raps.

I think that point differential is a pretty important stat. Pacers is lower than two other teams at the top of the heap; Raptors are 2.5pts higher after 3/4 of the season. I think the Raps had an immediate rough streak following the Kamari Brown deal, but they've finished seasons strong over the last several years...which is not to say the Pacers have not finished strong. They'll be a problem at the top, definitely. But I do not trust the Cavs ability to finish strong as much as I trust the Raps ability to do so as well as the Lakers or Bulls to finish #1.

I'm buying insurance and saying goodbye.
Neither one of these things is happening.
The Cavs and Lakers have schedules that will allow them to pull off.
The Pacers have put together a great showing, and the Raptors have a solid team, but the clock is ticking and Cinderella keeping her virginity.

Raptors. Truthfully, I'm making sure my will is written first, because I don't trust the Raptors to put it all together when there's so many road games left for them (and they're pretty bad on the road). However...a vote in favor of the Pacers is a vote against both Mamba and Gman, and that's just not good odds. Mamba's had too much regular season success to bet against him, and Gman's resume speaks for itself. Also, the Lakers only have 5 road games left to Indiana's 8, that could be a factor as well (the Bulls have 8 as well). So in conclusion...

Raptors because duh. Good luck to the Cleveland Cavaliers. I am really looking forward to squaring off until the end. But I believe in this team too much to think they will miss the playoffs.

Raptors, just because I think their roster is more well rounded enough down the stretch where they'll eek it out by a game or two but what the Cavs and Isaac have done this year has really impressed me.

On the other side id love to say the Pacers will finish 1st but the competition is too tough to be confident in that and we flinched in the final sims last regular season to hand the Bulls the division so tl;dr dont bet on the Pacers if your life is on the line
